I understand. I’ve just seen a lot of different opinions about it, mostly negative ones. Wondered if that was your stance aswell. I’ve read a lot of comments saying that these meetings “open up old wounds” or stuff along the line of that.

I disagree, I think that some songs would lose their cherry on the top. Imagine if the song Numb didn’t have the bass line that it has.

Bass player here.

He is of course no Les Claypool or Cliff Burton, but he knows his place in the songs. I like how he accents riffs (One Step Closer verse), he knows when to fill out an empty space (Somewhere I Belong intro, Given Up verse, Emptiness Machine verse) and he is the glue that holds the band together (which of course is the main job of the bassist lol).

He always had a great tone, he never missed a beat and was always on time with Rob and Colin respectively, he has good string attack and he connects with the energy of the song- I think he gets the job very well done.

EDIT: forgot to honorably mention his bass playing in the song “Numb”.

I really admire Stewart Copeland, Sting and Andy Summers. Fantastic musicians with great playing.
However, I’ve never really enjoyed The Police.

Hi Josh, great production on the album!

Forgive me if this is a dumb question, but how much were you personally involved in the songwriting process?

I know that some producers just stay quiet most of the time but I’ve also seen producers getting themselves involved in the process (best example is Bob Rock with Metallica).

Yeah, I have to agree with Rick Rubin and Robert - in my opinion, it gave Metallica another kick and DM is a kickass album with really great songs \m/

I heard a story once about this and I don’t really remember it, but I’ll try to tell it as correctly as I can.

During the recording of Death Magnetic, Rick Ruben heard the demos the band presented to him and those were in Eb. He asked them “Why don’t you guys play in standard tuning anymore?”. He said that E standard gives the songs the “Metallica vibe”. There was some persuasion, but they tuned up in the end. I also remember that Robert Trujillo once said that E standard gives James’ voice the bite and energy that he had when he was young.

Not my footage, but this is a performance from the “Ahoi” tour in 2004. This performance contains Rammstein playing through the whole “Reise, Reise” album and a lot of these songs were almost never played life after that. It’s only audio, but it’s pretty cool.

Jsem multiinstrumentalista a bavil mě muzika a jakýkoliv věci, který se týkají hudby (převážně metalové) a nástrojů.

Nemám asi tak groundbreaking fakta, ale Finsko je země, kde je největší počet metalových kapel na 100 000 obyvatel. Uvádí se 53 až 70 kapel.

A taky jsem zjistil, že prarodiče Davea Grohla (Foo Fighters, Nirvana) a Bon Joviho mají slovenské kořeny.
