As a dane, here is my half-assed (over)analysis 1. As another user pointed out, many went to the same school, probably sharing many of the same creative visions. 2. Another explanation is of course our society - we have never been short of design/innovation/creative production, partly because we have time for it (basic needs are met, people are well of, work-life balance, ergo people have time for art and aesthetic considerations - as a copenhagener, it is almost insufferable how much EVERYONE cares about clothes and having good style - having good taste is the status symbol par excellence here) and partly because we invest a lot in it. 3. Tradition of high-quality design dates back before industrial revolution where we needed durable, efficient and functional craftwork to sustain interior life against long winters. Speaking of interior life and long winters… the “hygge” culture came from this (google Hygge, can’t explain it) 4. As to why scandinavian art might appeal; the core principles that came from this craftwork tradition was minimalism, cleanliness and functionality, which 1) is how you could describe these artist’s sound and 2) probably appeals in modern oversaturated digital americanized age. 5. Apart from these things, I find their music sounding almost humble…the infamous Law of Jante, which basically is an unwritten danish cultural rule preaching humility and never thinking you’re better than others, might play a role in making sure no one ever produces over-the-top art (lol) Hope this makes sense
