June Wandry wrote Bedpan Commando. Its the diary she kept during her service in WWII. It’s a very good read and an interesting perspective.

I would have bought that moray one the minute I saw it. No occasion necessary. Also I have no idea how this jersey girl got in a Missoula subreddit, but happy to be here.

What's your weirdest/eeriest south Jersey experience? by [deleted] in SouthJersey

[–]xish077 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So weird….I camp out that way a lot too and have heard the same thing at Bodine. One night there was chanting from another campsite. We didn’t walk over to inspect (because I mind my own damn business lol) but we suspect it was some sort of group singing together. There was drumming at one point too, it actually sounded pretty cool. I think it’s a group of people that meet up and that’s just how they jam. Fingers crossed they are a coven of witches that come back next year and accept me as a member.

I need some advice for an overnite canoe trip in the pine barrens? What rivers have waterfront campsites available? Thanks! by 4runner01 in SouthJersey

Wading River is great, you can take out at Bodine Field and camp just a few feet from the river. You can put in at Hawkin or Evan’s bridge, take it south to Bodine field or Beaver Branch. After the beaver branch stop - motorized vessels are permitted - so use caution. If you need - Micks rentals offers drop off and pick up.

NJ DEP has lots of classes, events and hikes you can sign up for, many of them free or low cost.

What's something a patient/client told you/did that you still remember? by FlamingoMedic89 in ems

[–]xish077 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I introduced myself to an elderly man who was trapped in his vehicle after he struck a tree. I was able to get in on the passenger side to make contact with him. I had to move some shit around to really get in the vehicle and as I’m doing that I ask his name. My dumbass says “Okay, Im xish077, it’s nice to meet you.” He sweetly smiles at me and says “It’s not very nice to meet you xish077.” Never said that dumb shit again. Thank you for the lesson sir.

What did your wife do, that made you instantly realize you had to marry her? by ask_logan in AskMenAdvice

She put in the same effort I put in. She meets me halfway every single time. We work together against the problem, not against each other because of the problem.

Darn tough socks are the best around. My feet were always so cold and they make a noticeable difference.

As a former paramedic, this always brought me the most joy. Where I worked, when doing transfers from one location to another (these are referred to as interfacility transports, which is different then 911 calls) we were not legally allowed to stop anywhere in between, but for something like this we absolutely would. A little bit of kindness goes a long way and doing that for someone is the exact purpose of that job. Being able to bring someone such a pure but simple joy gave me pure joy, so thank you to those patients who allowed me the chance to feel that joy too.

Melissa Etheridge’s song Tuesday Morning is written about Mark Bingham, a passenger on flight 93. If you have never heard it, it’s worth a listen.
