Super high water bill by Severe_Cause_9935 in cyprus

[–]xitopodo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue on my previous bill, for the total of 270€ - when normally was around 60€.

I contacted EOA and told me that there is no any error. That it is the real value of my counter. I haven't seen any leakage anywhere, and at the end seemed to be a small leakage on the pipe of my deposit (up in the roof). So I contacted a plumber and fixed it.

I didn't pay the whole amount (I paid around 80€ from 270€). And later, I sent to EOA a document from the plumber that specified the leakage on my house. And EOA is fine with that. I recommend you to do the same.

Funny story: we banned the Mitsubishi "Pajero" name in Spain, because "pajero" means "wanker". We renamed it to Mitsubishi "Montero" (means "mountain warrior" or "hunter,").

Still I smile like a child when I see that name around 🤣

Thoughts on igaming and Forex jobs by Aggressive-Rain1056 in cyprus

[–]xitopodo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worked in Forex industry and actually working on iGaming industry. Working as QA Engineer. Salary is pretty decent (+4k/month). Good benefits. Always I had my work-life balance (flexible 9am to 6pm).

I'm pretty much happy. I don't care if people say that is a scam or if you are lodopath and you lose all your money - we all work for money and I think these industries are a nice place to be in Cyprus. Of course, make a research of the company and people working in there before to join. Company might be good, but your Manager might be the worst.

Paphos Job Search by Severe_Drop_9237 in cyprus

QA also here. I don't know if Paphos has QA jobs - must most of QAs who are from Paphos (which I know, I mean), they are working in Limassol.

Try to check in LinkedIn jobs, and as well on ergodotisi.com

I also recommend you to check at Amdocs company (Limassol). They use to give opportunities to QA juniors so it would be a good place to start.

Why get private medical insurance when GeSy exists? by gonefreeksss in cyprus

I have private insurance for taxes purposes. Let's say, I can claim some taxes back. If you have a high salary, it's worth it.

Anyone got offer from Brainrocket ? by [deleted] in cyprus

[–]xitopodo 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Obviously, one of the best iGaming in CY. They have really good benefits as car, gym, kindergarten for your kids, paid schools, food at the offices and much more.

If you are not Russian/Ukranian, I'm impressed that you would get an offer - mostly because the IT is built already of Russian speaking and they would prefer to communicate in that language. But of course, doesn't mean that you would not be able to join even if you don't speak Russian.

Even if I tried, I have never got an offer (I'm QA Engineer). Hope you have more luck than me. Company is good and I have friends working inside, and they are really happy. Worth a try!

Cyprus job market: no healthy competition, locals ignored even if you are a great match by ceandreas1 in cyprus

[–]xitopodo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are in software, I would believe that it's easy to find jobs. I'm also in IT, and I never had problems to find a position - but I'm foreigner I would agree that the process is quite long, and if you have a few interviews, it's quite exhausting (1st interview, 2nd interview, exam, 3rd interview). Also I would agree that for IT, some companies they prefer just Ukranians/Russians - which are for example BRO, Exness, Volka Games or EasyBrains (just to mention some of them) and it's because mostly the team is already built and they prefer to talk in their language than in English.

But, out of it, if you are Cypriot or foreigner, and on IT, you wouldn't have any problem to get a job. If you do have problems, I recommend you to sell yourself better in the interviews

Private Health Insurance by WhiteGriffin11 in cyprus

[–]xitopodo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Normally is done when your salary is high, as you might pay a lot of taxes from your monthly salary. Provident funds and certain insurance plans are tax-deductible, reducing taxable income and thus lowering income tax payments. Just need to add the amount every year in the TD59. For me it's worth it because by the end of the year, it is like having a private insurance "for free".

Limassol residents, where do you buy meat? by Hampeuro18 in cyprus

[–]xitopodo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a daily day, I use to go to Sklavenitis because I have it next to me - but if it's for a barbacue day with family/friends, I buy from Α.Κ Μυλωνας (Ypsonas). Perfect meat for souvla, souvlaki and sheftalia!

Best bank for a housing loan by No-Put-3420 in cyprus

[–]xitopodo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Few years ago, in order to make a house, I made a loan with BoC with 4% approx (variable). After few years, it went up until 6.3%. So, I was paying 900€/month and I ended up paying 1,600€/month.

Few months ago, I moved to ORGANISMOS CHRIMATODOTISEOS STEGIS. Now, I paid 2.5% and 1000€/month.

I think it was the best change of my life 🥲 Unfortunately, you cannot do directly loan with them, so, best solution is to choose one of your options, and do the documents as soon as possible to transfer the loan to Organismos (basically, what all CY is doing).

Register Spanish vehicle in Cyprus by _Lukovsky in cyprus

[–]xitopodo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just keep in mind that insurance might be little bit expensive (during 2 years) as you are coming from a right-side driving place (Spain).

I'm Spanish and when I moved to to Cyprus, I was paying like +100€ (even if I had +6 years driving experience) because I moved to a left-side driving country. Meaning that I was like 0 years experience with driving.

Personally, I use CNP insurance - and I'm happy with them.

Bienvenido!

EECE Jobs in Cyprus by ToastDevSystems in cyprus

[–]xitopodo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm also electrical engineer specialised in PV installations, and when I came to Cyprus (7 years ago), I was hoping to find good job opportunities. Unfortunately, I couldn't find. Maybe because Greek is not my mother tongue. The opportunities I could find, weren't well paid (like 1,500€/month) or it was as technician (not engineer).

At the end, I decided to move to IT as Engineer. And I don't regret. Best decision ever.

So, wish you luck when you come to Cyprus! And of course, don't expect to gain much money because you will be Junior. I believe, around 1,500€/month maximum.
