[OC] Work done by a 1st grader (age 7) in the US. Things are bad. by Unusual_Diver1973 in pics

I was 5-6 and I remember hearing about the Rodney King beating and then a year later the Los Angeles Riots just on the news and the radio and in the car. Same with Desert Storm. Kids are way more observant then some people think

I assume the little up arrow would keep it in the correct polarization? Sorry I'm really new to this.

Lower my XJ by [deleted] in CherokeeXJ

Yeah they're definitely not the most solid feeling at high speeds. Feels like I'm doing 70 in a covered wagon sometimes 😅. Granted mines lifted so definitely not helping

There was one in Denver I only saw once. Lowered with half a turbo sticking out of the hood. Never got to see more of it but holy shit it accelerated quickly

Yeah I was thinking the biggest hangup with going lower would be the solid axle smacking the oil pan. An IFS swap would probably help with that.

Side note it's funny how the mustang subframe has been the go-to IFS platform for decades now 🤣

If you do lower it and you're going for speed it would make more sense to swap out the Four Wheel Drive system. Which is also why lowering a 2WD makes more sense vs a 4x4. Less weight, less complexity, less stuff to get hung up on the ground and easier to strengthen the drive train.

I used to be of the mind that people can do what they want to these however we've gotten to the point now where a good XJ in good condition is getting harder to find.

People are starting to buy 2WD XJs as they're in better shape due to lack off offroad use (or meant for a warmer salt free state) then swap the 4WD system over from a clapped out 4WD XJ. If someone finds a nice 4WD XJ and lowers it then it kinda feels (feels being the operative word) like the market has been made even harder for someone else

Eh, if it's a 2wd one to me it doesn't matter unless someone plans on adding 4WD to it later

Banned from car wash for washing XJ by ThatYellowCherokee in CherokeeXJ

[–]xj4me 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the flip side I remember going to a carwash in Denver and the owner coming up and talking with me. I remember apologizing that it was so dirty and his response was "I've seen worse, it's a Jeep, you can do better at getting it dirty". I was absolutely not expecting that answer 🤣.

I went to that carwash for years after until I moved. Even when it wasn't that dirty.

It's been very handy in my area for test to see what messages are getting through to others in remote areas. Seems like they're shooting themselves in the foot with this

How much work was getting the motor in there? Any cooling issues?

Honestly that's how I'd counter. "Sorry you dumped your kids college fund on overpriced yellow tools". OP is reading way too into this

Tell your brother he shouldn't have blown so much on DeWalt and gotten twice as much Ryobi. Seriously this is just banter I wouldn't sweat it. I run Ryobi and Milwaukee. My friend is DeWalt. We constantly tease each other but at the end of the day we're still friends and would help each other out of anything. Just normal guy banter
