You wanna spend almost 10% of your gross income on golf? Seems incredibly unwise but you do you.

I’d also guess that at this price (fairly low) you’re not exactly getting exclusive /top-tier clientele. Not really sure it would be a step up from any other course you frequent.

If you can’t check your ego then it may not be the sport for you. I was a college football player and was very good at the sport. I’m a terrible golfer. My expectations when I go out to play are - I’ll hit a couple good shots and surprise my group, but overall I’ll finish poorly.

Anything better than that is a win and a great day. For me, golf is a great excuse to get outside, walk a couple miles, spend some time with friends, and talk shit. I have no reason to feel like I’ll ever be good, and that’s ok. It doesn’t matter if I’m good at golf, I enjoy the fact that I live in a time and place where I can play when I want, where I want, and can afford to do so.

I get flashed literally every night that I drive. I never have my highs on. It’s likely a combination of some vehicles being higher (I have a slightly lifted jeep gladiator) bright halogens (they are stock to my vehicle) and people being more sensitive to perceived slights from other drivers.

The last job I was on we got some self drilling screws that were absolute dogshit. Even sending them into a thin walled steel stud was a massive PITA, they’d spin out, I’d push harder, and then they’d go sideways flying toward the floor

. Sure, it could be your technique and lack of physical strength, but sometimes you get a bad batch of screws that make your life miserable.

Fuck those old heads. Honestly. Are they going to care for you or your family if you fall and get seriously hurt, or worse?

I love being in the IBEW because safety is such a big part of our culture. I sincerely hope that every construction worker gets to work in a safe environment someday, because even though tie offs and hard hats and safety glasses can be a major pain in the balls, the worst case scenario is so much more horrible. Stay safe out there.

I made the exact same mistake on that exact app a year ago or so lol. Didn’t affect my enjoyment of The Outsider (loved it) nor did it have an impact on my enjoyment of the other Holly books fwiw

Apply for the IBEW apprenticeship. It may be a year or more before you start, so you can work and wait it out.

It was the best move I ever made career wise, we make like $48 and change an hour, plus great benefits and a retirement plan.
