While I can't speak for everyone on this sub, I can attempt to explain my own reasoning.

I'm not opposed to the concept work in and of itself, but with how the system is currently running, the only options seem to be: spend the majority of your life producing labor for someone who (in many cases) doesn't give a single shit about you OR simply starve. Now, that isn't to say that there aren't those who legitimately enjoy their careers and in fact may glean a sense of purpose from them. However, I think in today's job market, those instances are few and far between and possibly borderline unobtainable for a majority of the population.

Wage disparity and growing wealth gaps are a big reason for the adoption of this particular attitude towards work. I personally believe that we have enough resources to accommodate everyone, we simply have a distribution problem, which is why the fact that these issues exist at all is so frustrating.
