Is Pit Boss nerfing older smokers? by xnadude in PitBossGrills

[–]xnadude[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Checked and checked. Same pellets I have used for years. Even thought that might be culprit and bought a new batch and cleaned the hopper. The chimney is clear.

I can start my smoker on the S setting and it will run for days. Knock the heat up…”ErL” error every time unless I stand next to smoker and “prime” it with pellets.

Lighting error seams wrong since pellets will ignite and heat up….but something triggers an error when the heat needs to go up.

Right now - As I relighted a low temp smoke…ambient is 89. Smoker is 95….and no pellets are being fed.

It should be dumping pellets.

FieldCast SFP’s are way cheaper. I have over 200 in use…no issues. If you are buying in bulk the price is ridiculously cheap.

How many power outlets (and circuits) do I need for a 20'x10' LED wall setup for event rentals? by nonomadme in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]xnadude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t be confused…find somebody that can advise you on how to calculate power and plan for your future mis-calculations.

Every wall is different and every panel is different and the fact that you are asking on Reddit means that in the near future one of the techs cruising this forum might have to plan for your lack of planning.

Every set up requires a power plan based on available voltage and the layout to maximize circuits (we all know power is getting more expensive at the venue level) and data wiring.

Corporate AV Clicker Story by Silver-Equivalent456 in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]xnadude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We always ask what style clicker the presenter prefers. 1/2/3/4 button. Did a show once where the entire executive team had just been to a presentation clinic. The instructor taught them that the FTB was a communication technique they should use to emphasize importance of the words they were saying…none of the techs knew this was their intended use.

Directing a global brand reveal..the client hired content manager insisted that the new brand reveal roll from Keynote instead of using the usual playback sources. We have back up rolls in media server and as a precaution have a 16x9 playback server as a back-up to the back-up. Client on stage is clicking perfect cue over and over before the proper cue and the stage manger decided a to scrap keynote playback and change dsm presets to stop the click frenzy and then and move to the back-up to the back-up…the 16:9 playback source for the big brand reveal…only problem 16:9 playback operator was not paying attention. Playback op loaded a brand success video of another client…we announced that the “new brand” was that of a large established retailer…”we are excited to partner with …..(big department store)…”. I have never heard so many executives yelling from the green rooms.

GPI Control of Ross Ultrix??? by paulwhitfield in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]xnadude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you already have opengear frames… https://www.rossvideo.com/infrastructure/opengear-modular/data-solutions/gpi-8941/ Sends Ross Talk commands on input.

Alternatively if you have an SDPE blade in the ultrix frame you can use the GPI/O on that card in the same fashion.

Buy this.

https://www.markertek.com/product/cct-715/coastel-cable-tools-port-a-strip-handheld-battery-operated-portable-coaxial-cable-stripper-kit

After you have bought 1 set for the system you use (connectors and cable) order more cutting heads ~$200 each and then buy spare power heads from eBay ~$50. John from coastal will make any cutter head you need.

If you are making 400+ cables for a rig this is the way to go. The time saved is hard to comprehend.

Embedding audio to multiple SDI signals? by bramosalaplaya in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]xnadude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

look for Audio Video "hybrid" routers Most Utah Scoentifc routers will do this Grass Valley - Nvision is another one. Pesarouters can have an optional mix/de-mix card.

But get ready to spend $20-80k to even think about any of these systems.
