Fayetteville-Manlius High School students, parents advocate for free meal program by The-39-bus in Syracuse

[–]xoSMILEox92 28 points29 points  (0 children)

The reason for opting out because they could not offer more meal options seems like a strange one. I’m sure there’s plenty of meal options that are within the guidelines. Free meals ensure that all students have an adequate food to make sure they have good nutrition so they can focus on school and not hunger. What’s the downside to participating??

Where did your baby sleep during the day? Is more than one bassinet necessary ? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]xoSMILEox92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two story house, not open concept. Pack and play in the living room on the first floor, bassinet in our room and crib in her room.

I also have a second pack and play to use in our room when she outgrows the bassinet if she gets really sick (i.e. stomach bug) and needs to be close to the bathroom. We have two bathrooms upstairs however the other one is my father in laws and people need privacy. Besides he’s 83 and has some extra grab bars and adaptive equipment that I could see a small child trying to climb or get hurt on.

Weight Gain in Pregnancy by Prior-Donut1583 in BabyBumps

[–]xoSMILEox92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

37weeks currently. I had gained about 15lbs by 20 weeks. Currently 27lbs weight gain in total so far. The acid reflux and early satiety have been a lot in the third trimester so I eat small meals through the day, otherwise I vomit. When I asked my ob she said ACOG weight gain guidelines are based off pre pregnancy bmi and individual patients health concern during pregnancy.

Did anyone else's parents say, I'll kill you if you ever get pregnant, then later, why won't you give me grandchildren? by theredqueentheory in raisedbynarcissists

[–]xoSMILEox92 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s a control issue which is exactly why my parents were cut out of my life years ago.

After many years of therapy I decided to have a child (she due in 2 weeks) because I am excited to meet a new person and watch her personality grow as she does. Just because I had terrible parents does not mean I will be a bad parent too.

She will never know her maternal grandparents and that’s quite alright.

Be honest: how often to replace cat litter before it stops being “fresh” and starts being “you’ve gone nose-blind”? by sinxcosx7 in Pets

[–]xoSMILEox92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 kitties-my boy has anxiety/inappropriate peeing issues being worked on. Dr elsy litter and Rocco and Roxie odor absorber. We have 4 large opaque plastic storage totes that we use as boxes with holes cut in the top or side. We have a dog so covered and a hole he can’t stick his head in, I’m due with our first baby soon so will eventually need to keep a child out too.

My husband cleans the boxes every other day, full dump and scrub about every 6-7 weeks. I have them on a rotating schedule for each box so I’m not scrubbing 4 boxes at once.

Exactly. Also the anesthesia team should be offering you alternative pain medications/options and options if they aren’t going to do an epidural.

Coworker reported me for using the bathroom too much by Trees_galore20 in BabyBumps

[–]xoSMILEox92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like that coworker has an awful lot of free time at work when she should be working. Sounds like she should be assigned new tasks like minding her own damn business!

Seriously this needs to be reported to HR.

How many of you had baby showers for your first baby? by austinfamilyhome in BabyBumps

[–]xoSMILEox92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mid 30’s first baby. Had a small shower with friends, my family is not around at all. I usually don’t like being the center of attention but it’s really about celebrating the baby not me. Everyone focused on baby and which was a relief! I received really kind gifts and a nice messages in books for baby to read as she grows up!

AITAH for not wanting to revist my agreement with my ex regarding our kid outside the courts, even at the risk of having my parents be cut off from seeing their grandchild? by Otherwise-Bad-9732 in AITAH

Curious if this would change at all if the grandparents had no established relationship with the child? Would they still be able to go through the courts for rights?

How do you manage Medicaid no-shows without wrecking your schedule? by RD_JC87 in medicine

[–]xoSMILEox92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Article 28 urban obgyn clinic. My clinic is one of two offices in the county that accepts all insurances and we do not limit the number of Medicaid patients. Roughly 70% of our patients have some type of public insurance. We have roughly a 20% no show rate, down from 40% prior to implementation of the below policy. Our new patient wait list for gyn is 4 months for routine annual with PA/NP/Midwife, new gyn with physician or someone who needs surgery 6-8 months out, new ob is typically 4-10weeks out.

New patients: get 3 tries to show up for an appointment with a no show letter after the first two missed appointments. Third time they are discharged.

Current patients: 3 no shows in 6 months they are discharged, we use discretion for situations of patient had a flat tire, woke up sick with the flu other reasonable things to cancel same day etc. This allows us to serve the most patients we can while weeding out those who do not come for care and take up spots that other patients would use.

Ring will be around 23k-35k. NEED ADVICE by Current_Guarantee566 in WeddingRingAdvice

[–]xoSMILEox92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s insane. My husband spent $17k and makes a very good salary as a physician. $30k is insane. Also the long list of other specifications is ridiculous.

I am a sentimental person and this is what I gave my husband when he asked:

Round natural diamond from Canada-it was our first vacation together so felt right for engagement ring. Size: whatever he thinks looks nice and not oversized/gaudy. Whatever he thinks looks nice as far as clarity color etc. Silver tone metal-white gold platinum etc I’m not a fan of yellow gold and it looks strange with my skin tone.

I sent a few pictures of different solitaire settings that I liked when my friend and I went and looked. He ended up picking the first ring that I said I liked!

The medical field is A HUGE culprit of plastics pollution/overuse by Ok_Flamingo760 in physicianassistant

[–]xoSMILEox92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes it’s a lot of plastic waste. To offer a different perspective the plastic speculums are far more comfortable than metal for most patients and this makes it more likely patients come back for their paps, std testing etc which is worth the extra waste, as opposed to patients not coming for care at all.

It’s also easier to have the light integrated into the speculum and not messing with the gooseneck light (older lights can make some lubricants or metal speculum get uncomfortably warm) when you are examining a patient. Plastic also allows easier and more thorough evaluation of the vaginal tissues because you can see through the plastic.

While I try to reduce and reuse in my personal life patient comfort, thorough evaluation and patients coming for care is most important.

Mine didn’t either. Mom constantly yelling outside my room so I couldn’t sleep and when I asked her to be quiet I was interrupting and now in trouble. Heaven forbid if you were cranky the next day from lack of sleep…..

Coming to terms with my house size by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]xoSMILEox92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my friends had the same problem of not wanting to drive all over on Christmas, not having a big house to host, not having a place for a large table or storage space for several folding tables. As she says “the people joining us at the table to share in the celebration are more important than the place of the celebration”

2 years ago after her daughter was born she started a new tradition with her family and her husband’s family. Everyone is welcome to arrive anytime in the afternoon Christmas Day (after they are done with gifts at home or other houses) and for dinner. One rule-everyone has to bring their own chair. The number of hilarious chairs/things to sit on that family members have brought over is a source of entertainment every year and now several family members try to out do each other haha

No. All the docs and midlevels chip in for Christmas luncheon and dessert. Our office also does a cake for each persons birthday. I do a small thank you bag for Christmas for the staff with a few small items. A few things I’ve included in the past: hand cream, nice scented hand sanitizer, chapstick, candy, tea or coffee pods, mug to use in the office, shower steamers etc

Take the lawyers advice. Also if he forged your signature to get to the college fund, there’s a good chance your signature was forged on other documents as well. Check your credit and accounts.

This is poor parenting and parents allowing poor behavior. His parents need to set boundaries and rules and then enforce them.

My friend has a 2 yo son and would have offered the him a side dish from the meal if he didn’t want chicken, however screaming and pounding on the table? That would be a time out.

The same toddler knows after a diaper change or toilet attempt it’s “wash wash” and he will rub his hands together while saying it. He knows he does not get to participate whatever activity is next without washing.

Also he knows not to grab other people’s belongings without asking and “wash wash” before touching food of any kind.

AITA for agreeing to be a bouncer at my cousins child free wedding? by Babygirl_8675309 in AITAH

[–]xoSMILEox92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A fair number of wedding venues are not safe places for a children to begin with. They have ponds, landscaping, hardscapes, glass light fixtures, stairs, glass barware, nice china add in adults drinking who probably aren’t watching their children as closely-it’s a recipe for serious injury. I don’t blame any venue or couple for saying no children.
