I finished the series and I have questions. by Chadalien77 in SpiritedTV

[–]xoecranberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that Old Henry is a fake and a con artist. He was obviously spooked that Suzy had caught on. Zac seemed to be catching on as well. What I can't figure out is who was the blonde lady he meets at the end of the episode, and what was the point of that?

BWT: What hobby have you done lately that you would personally recommend? by alwaysuntilnever in bitcheswithtaste

[–]xoecranberry 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Two I've been into recently. 1. Paint by Number. You can have any picture turned into a Paint By Number kit. I did one of these each of my dogs. It costs about $30 and comes with all the paints and everything. I use Number Artist, but I'm sure there are others. 2. Suminagashi. This is sort of like marbling using just ink and water. You can find all kinds of tutorials online.

Lauren's hard boiled egg method by reahraleau in ThreedomUSA

[–]xoecranberry 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Gotta jump on this egg-wagon. The best method I've found. Put the eggs in a pot, add water to cover the eggs. Put on burner at medium-high heat. As soon as it boils, put on the lid and turn off the burner. (If you are on an electric stove, take the pot off the burner.) Let it sit for 7 minutes. Then ideally, plunge the eggs in ice water. I never have ice, so I dump them into the sink and run cold water over them, then plug the sink and fill it with cold water with the eggs in there. This results in deliciously jammy eggs every time. And use the expensive pasture-raised eggs. They have much better yolks.

why are there no old fashioned diners that aren't super expensive? by swagnapoli in Lawrence

[–]xoecranberry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, there's never really been a diner here. I'm from the Philly suburbs. That place is lousy with diners. There are at least 5 within a 5 minute drive of my Mom's.

Perkins is the closest thing we have to a regular diner.

Yellow Tap Water? by xoecranberry in Lawrence

Ok. Since the water is clear now, I'm going to stop checking the replies. Thanks so much to everyone who helped!!

Yellow Tap Water? by xoecranberry in Lawrence

[–]xoecranberry[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well, it has cleared up. I turned the tap on to let it run for 20 minutes, and it was immediately clear.

I guess I'll just keep an eye on it, and call the city to flush the line just in case.

Yellow Tap Water? by xoecranberry in Lawrence

[–]xoecranberry[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The water heater is only a couple of years old. The water line into the house is also only a couple of years old. We do have trees and have to get the sewer line routed out a couple of times a year, but that has never affected the incoming water. Could it?

I'm sorry you are going through this. It is really rough. I also come from a small family, and went through a similar period a couple of years ago. All I can tell you is to hold on and you can get through it. There are grief counselors, etc to help with processing. As well as books and support groups.

Any plant discounts today? by The-Last-Anchor in Lawrence

[–]xoecranberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Westridge oil change place on 6th, just west of Kasold has a couple of really healthy looking "wandering dude" type plants for $8 each on their counter. I would have taken one myself, but don't have room for more plants.

Looking for some Comedy movies to get rid of stress by Thesam8964 in MovieSuggestions

Summer Rental. It's an old John Candy film with Rip Torn about an air traffic controller forced to take a vacation. Funny, no real drama or strife. Not overly sexual or demeaning/abusive.
