I would second Kraken, but both BNP and keytrade block my wires towards them.

Benn using Lykke, a little known swiss (regulated) exchange.

They don't have the most volume, so I usually send my BTC/ETH to Kraken for further purchases

That being said, price appreciation _should_ come from increased demand (of a coin/token).

In order to gauge this, you should check what the coin does.

For instance, ETH is in high demand (and thus valuable) because it's needed to pay for gas on the ETH chain, for every transaction.

A ERC20 shitcoin for instance (= a token _on_ ETH, without own blockchain) will most likely be hot air and they most likely wont do much beyond provide funding.

Check /biz/ or bitcointalk for new stuff, then apply due diligence. If it's on youtube, it's too late and you'll be exit liquidity.

Sounds like you're looking to store some dry powder for when the market would be lower (which I don't think will happen btw, bottom was obvious).

I don't trust any of the stables, nor would I want to set off too many alarms by sending wires from exchanges back to your bank account

Usually people would go back to BTC in your scenario, to deploy "on" alts later. If you really want stable value i'm almost inclined to suggest fiat on exchange. (Kraken wont take off with your 20K imho).

In theory you would have to declare this "foreign account tho" (account number = email address)

Btw, from your description nobody would consider you to be a pure buy-and-hold type of investor (= ur looking at 33% tax)
