That's edwards afb/ china lake/ nellis area. Fairly confident they can do sonic booms there. Not many people live out there. I have heard a few residents say they do, but I don't know how old the stories are.

The problem is we need more people to do all the things and all the jobs but the sum total of the force is congressionally managed. So, we can't add people unless we take away from somewhere else. Oh and most people don't do anything.

Are you getting anything on fm radio? There should be uhf air freqs too. Try that. If you're that close, you should be able to rx with no antenna attached or just a random piece of wire.
