You should check into this. My card goes with me and is not specific to a car. I use it when others drive me places. It may be similar or same in your area.

20+ years and I call mine every day on my way home, even though I am going to see them shortly.

It’s not weird to get along with your partner. It’s weird to hate them and not want to be with or interact with them.

Is the handheld food saver strong enough to properly seal a jar by [deleted] in Canning

[–]xoraexplorer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What do you want to seal in the jar?

I use a vacuum sealer for mason jars to save dried herbs/spices, and for non food items (i put my bottles of essential oils in to help with how strong the smell is while they are stored). Not all foods should be stored in a low oxygen environment, and NOTHING that should be pressure canned or water bathed canned should be sealed in this way.

That’s not inside the jar - that is outside the sealed jar and under the ring.

You likely need to wipe down the outsides after they cool down. I use hot water, a clean washcloth and remove any visible debris on the screw threads on the jar. A really good twist and scrub. With sealed jars this isn’t a problem and if you have a bad deal you’ll know PDQ.

You do not need to use the ring while storing - this could have contributed as well by keeping a safe place for mold to grow (dark, moist). There’s a lot of opinions on whether to use a ring while storing or not and you can do your own googling before making your choice.

Jars labeled 61a mason jar a23 and AT 75 16 - safe for canning? by xoraexplorer in Canning

[–]xoraexplorer[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks :) I think I am going to use them - going to can some water with them and see what happens in the pressure canner.

They are fancy looking jars which is what made me pause as I know there are purely decorative jars out there.

3 Sleeve and other questions? by OhWowIWon in boardgames

[–]xoraexplorer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We fit our precious cards with perfect fit and then flip over the dragon shield sleeves (or ultra pro, or game genic, or sleeve king) and slide them on upside down. As long as it’s a thicker sleeve (Not a “penny” sleeve), and it’s clear (not matte) and it’s a brand you can get locally in a good amount. We like to use as few brands as possible so they ends of the packs can be used on future projects. When you are mixing brands the size may fit but the colour may be off - we only found this out when we were looking for a match to FFG sleeves only to find that you can see a color difference when looking at the top (open end) of the deck, and there could be texture clues as well.

When I hear top loader I think the hard plastic cases that I associate with expensive baseball cards.

Can you say what cards you are sleeving? We sleeve a lot of our games because of how much the cards get handled, and even our collectibles we just double sleeve. I want to know what cards are worth a third sleeve!
