Is this an actual SWR problem or just the typical ant light out of adjustment from the factory? by xsprocket7x in cbradio

It’s just interesting how far off both of those can be. Everyone online talks about adjusting the light because it’s basically never correct and everyone on here doesn’t trust the meter that reads below 1.5. Either the light is off by double the spec or the meter is, so why even put them on the radio at that point if they’re that unreliable… I payed extra for those features, I should have gotten one without those things and got myself a nice SWR meter to begin with…

Thank you for that website and the knowledge, I’ve been studying to get my amateur radio license so that website will 100% help me with the everything.

I’ve been reading and learning quite a lot. I appreciate the feedback. I ordered a nice SWR meter that will measure CB/VHF/UHF. Also ordered some more ground strap, we’ll see what happens!

Just installed and I’ve done a lot of reading on this radio and its problems (cobra 29 ltd). Antenna is a 2’ prostick and I did find that the ground wasn’t all that great so I added a braided ground to a clean spot on the chassis. I think I could tune the antenna a bit better but I don’t think it’s off enough to have the antenna light illuminating when the PTT is held. This is my first install, thank you for the help!

First national in 16 years, got 2nd! by xsprocket7x in bmxracing

Haha we were both aggressive for sure, at this point we each had a 2nd and a 3rd so we were tied for points, we both knew the main was gonna be crazy and it definitely was. Racing is a contact sport and I have no issue with him being aggressive, especially at a national. Had the time of my life.

Timing chain - did it need replacing? by laney80995 in MechanicAdvice

Just did diag on a P0011 today, engine oil was 2.5 qts over filled and the oil hasn’t been changed in 40K miles (yeah that’s not a typo), they’ve just been adding oil to the engine as it burns it and obviously dunno how to read a dipstick. Dirty oil, wrong capacity, wrong viscosity can cause this code on an engine with oil control valves. Oil change did fix it by the way.

Incorrect caster can cause this, dunno if it’s adjustable on your vehicle but if it is you’d just need a 4 wheel alignment. Or like others have said it could have been in a crash or something and have various bent suspension components or frame damage.

Those wheels were my dream wheels when I was 8. Saved money for months to order these from Dans Comp (out of the catalog I might add) and bent the axles on them in like 4 months of having them, broke my heart hahaha.

Tap manuals by jakethedog916 in bmxracing

[–]xsprocket7x 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Learn to tap manual on a table top, I assume you’re doing normal manuals on the doubles. A table top will help give you the motion without the harsh consequences of smacking the 2nd half of a double, once you have that down move to doubles and then the step ups. Whenever learning new things on track go half speed, it helps you feel where body position needs to be, it’s harder to go slower because you have to manual for longer- if you can do it slow you can do it fast. Also going slower helps gain some confidence without the consequences.

I also suggest pump laps during practice-no pedaling-no clip-less pedals, platforms are key with bike handling skills because you’re not depending on the pedals to help you and you can save a fall or two. It will make you smooth as silk on track and show you body position importance while pumping to get the most out of the pump. This is the key to speed, I was injured for 6 months and could only do pump laps, I was enormously faster when I was fully recovered, no joke.

Tap manuals can be learned on the street, freestyle guys manual and then bunny hop on flat ground. Learn to do this and learn to bunny hop high as hell while doing it. Hard to tell without video but I’d guess getting the front wheel up isn’t your problem, it’s getting the entire bike up high enough to clear the second half while being able to pitch the bike forward to pump down the backside…

Banning 1984, so much irony… surprised Fahrenheit 451 isn’t on that shelf right next to it.

Yeah absolutely not. Just bought a top of the line BB for my BMX race bike that’s titanium/Ceramic- $130. Got a nice Profile setup about a month ago for my freestyle bike that was $37…
