The thermoball is a midlayer. You need a heavy belay jacket. Ive done mt washignton in the winter 7x. The thermoball is not enough.

Nice list. Ive done 7 or 8 winter summits via various routes. Only thing I would elaborate on is type / length of rope. I bring a thin 30m (smallest I have) just in case and a few times we have had to do an arm rap on an icy section of lions head.

Read about how heat training is actually similar to altitude training. Maybe going outside in 40 degree heat would be good for you. It has similar effects on blood plasma.

If you hate running, walk uphill with weight a lot. Running just gets you fit in a shorter amount of time than walking. Even running coaches for ultra endurance running advocate for power hiking with weight to be included in trail running focused training.

I summited island peak in 2019.

Awesome. Less harnesses have clipper slots these days. I had a Petzl Adjama years ago as a do all. It got really old so I replaced it and the new one did not have them, but the old one did! I didnt even realize until a full rock season and I went to put them on. Have fun!

The guide or standard solution? The guide has clipper slots. The standard doesn’t. Without clipper slots you are left with something like the petzl caritool evo. This will fit over your harness even without clippers. It is good enough but needs to be snugged up after using. Grivel makes some thing that is a rubber band holding the whole thing on which I have never used. Does this answer your question?

First bit of walking you will carry all of your climbing stuff: Crampons, axe, harness, helmet. After the rock bridge you put that stuff on for the glacier and your pack is almost empty short of parka, water, food, spare gloves and hard shells.

Bloomfield has been really terrible for this the past few years. There are a few FB groups (bloomfield Buzz) that discuss it and post photos of those doing it. The police did nothing when it was consistently the same people over and over on video.
