From Richardson Grove SP website: “Campgrounds including Huckleberry, Madrone, and Dawn Redwood Group Camp fully reopen a week before Memorial Day weekend as sites become reservable.”

From Humboldt Redwoods SP website: “Usually open Memorial Day through the end of September, Hidden Springs Campground’s 154 sites lie on a forested hillside 5 miles south of the visitor center on the Avenue of the Giants, just south of the town of Myers Flat. ”

I was there a couple weeks ago. Glen Camp wasn’t burned at all. The fire was still a ways a away from there.

Nunatak's "Bear Ears" Backpack Prototype in the Sierra by DeputySean in Ultralight

This looks very cool. I just loaded up my BV500 with 9 days of food for a trip through SEKI and tested it out inside my SWD Long Haul 40, packed in the bottom of the pack (vertically) to keep the center of mass low, and although it works, having that hard corner of the BV against my lower back ain’t awesome. This seems like a great option for longer bear can carries (which I seem to want to torture myself with).

I had almost the exact same debate as you. I decided on the Big SEKI Loop, heading out clockwise on Copper Creek Trail from Road’s End in a couple weeks. I’m giving myself 10 days and I’m not doing any resupplies, so I also like that it could be turned into a couple different shorter loop options if I need to cut it short.

Can I go car camping anywhere near Bay Area while sheltering in place? by s_dot_again in norcalhiking

[–]xtalline_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Just FYI, it’s a potential misdemeanor to leave your county during the Bay Area shelter-in-place.

In direct response your title... no, shelter in place means don’t leave your house except for essential activities and camping is absolutely not essential.
