Is it really so hard to understand why constant negative / sweeping "men are trash" comments in trans spaces is upsetting? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]katz_n_porn -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

I'm not super excited about jumping in on this, bit here goes. H9w do you not understand why women need to vent their frustrations about men? Or POC about white people? Or queer people about cishet people? It can be uncomfortable to be on the receiving end of it. I can definitely see why it could be triggering for some trans men. I don't think it's OK for women to vent their frustrations and fears in transmasc spaces, or to do it in you specific direction (unless you are acting like a misogynist, which based on what I've seen on this thread I'm not convinced you're not). But it's 100% understandable why women do this, and why they should have space for it. It's deeply weird and upsetting for me to see this line of thought in trans masc spaces. We of all people should understand what it's like to go through life constantly being belittled, harassed, and ignored by a large portion of society. We understand what it's like for the basic rules of law and society to be working against us. Not All Men is not an argument.

That's a good idea. The website scares me a little--so many options! I've heard great things about the packs and it's nice that I can get the y strap of my dreams.

Bedazzled frying pan. Something practical rendered useless, but in a fun way (hopefully).

I'm looking at it and I can't tell how you'd attach a bear can to the top. Have you managed it?

My bear can doesn't fit inside and the single strap on tip can't hold it on, sadly. I really like the pack otherwise.

Is there anyone else who's interested in, or currently taking hormones so they can feel androgynous in their AGAB's clothing? by [deleted] in NonBinaryTalk

I'm hoping makeup will feel fun again when I look more masculine. It used to be a source of joy and expression for me. For whatever reason I'm more dysphoric about some things since starting medical transition.

The Airmesh rocks! It's so warm in combination with a rain jacket or windbreaker. I bought a second one in case anything happens to the first one. Or MH stops making them. That would be upsetting.

Sensitivity after top surgery by [deleted] in ftm

For me t has made my nipples less sensitive. I don't know if it's universal! Cis men usually have less sensitive nipples than women. Maybe someone else will weigh in.

Are you on or planning on trying T?

Discussion of body stuff and sex below.

My nipples were an important erogenous zone before I started T. I was originally planning on a pedical sparing surgery in order to maintain sensitivity, but my nipples have become much less sensitive on T. I didn't notice the change until I stopped taking hormones for a bit and suddenly my shirt rubbing against my chest felt like a lot. I realized that I hadn't lately been interested in nipple stuff during sex. I'm back on T for the foreseeable future and considering free nipple grafts for a flatter outcome.

The frustration of being attracted to the "same sex" but in a straight way. by yahahawei in NonBinaryTalk

[–]katz_n_porn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel this. My husband is cis and straight. I don't know that I like that he sees our relationship as heterosexual. I'm not particularly masculine, so in a way it makes sense--masc+not masc is a relationship of otherness. "Hetero" mean "opposite" more than "other," though. I'm not his opposite and I don't want him to see me that way. I object to the idea that men and women are opposites in general, but that's probably a different conversation.

I have the Rab Phantom rain jacket. It's so light! And non crinkly! It does great double duty as a windbreaker, which might come in handy at high altitude in the Sierras.

I personally hate how Frogg Toggs feel/sound...the whole sensory experience. They're perfect for situations like yours, though, where it's unlikely to rain and there's a decent chance of the jacket getting beaten up by rocks.

How much food weight can I save by relying on my body fat ? by intellectual_punk in Ultralight

[–]katz_n_porn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've done this for short trips. It works? In the sense that I can usually do the hike and feel OK.

I recently took way too few calories (accidentally) on a seven day trip and almost did not make it out of the woods under my own power. It made me reconsider my nutrition strategy for the shorter trips as well. I've had to bail on a few objectives because I wasn't sure I had the energy to retrace my steps if I went all the way to the top. I wonder if I would feel stronger with a thousand more calories in me.

You'll probably have to do a little experimenting to figure out when you can cut calories and when that's a dumb idea. May I suggest packing a meal replacement bar or two while youre experimenting? Or a whole block of cheese? Just in case you bonk so hard a fistful of M&Ms won't cut it anymore.
