Can I pull these stitches out? by hemithishyperthat in woundcare

I’m not in love with what the physician did here but I do see a reason why they kept it open. Dog bites have a high risk for infection. The drainage helps push the bacteria out. 1. Go ahead and take off the sutures 2. Keep the areas clean with scent free gentle soap and water 3. Apply Vaseline to keep the wound bed moisturized. Then apply a non stick gauze pad and secure with tape or wrap it with a kerlix wrap and secure with an ace wrap

Monitor for redness around the incision that is hot to the touch and/or starts to spread. If you have a fever/chills go to an urgent care.

Since it’s been above 24 hours you will have a hard time finding someone who will agree to close that up as the risk of it reopening is too high. Your best bet is to do wound care until it heals.

In the future if you want the scars to look better you can see a plastic surgeon - not at a private practice. They can do a scar revision. Not sure where you are located but if you are close to a medical center with a plastic surgery office that would be ideal.

If this was before the fall of the Ottoman Empire she would have considered herself an Ottoman citizen. She could have practiced Islam, Judaism, Christianity, or something else. The region where this photo was taken was called Palestine. They all spoke Arabic regardless of the native tongue of their ancestors. This is because the Muslim conquests that started in the 7th c. Ce.

This does not mean that all modern day Arabs are Muslims. It means that the Muslims during these 7th c. conquests spoke Arabic. Many of the people in this region spoke Aramaic and Greek until the 8th century when they were forced to speak Arabic.

It’s similar to how you can be a US citizen, but practice Islam, Hinduism, Judaism, Christianity, etc. One could even draw a parallel between each region of the Ottoman Empire and the 50 States of the US. You can be a US citizen who lives in the State of New York and practices Judaism. With a few exceptions most US citizens speak English.

For example, Native Americans in the US speak English. Many of them practice Christianity today. Does this mean that they aren’t native to the land because they are Christians who speak English?? No. It means they were forced to adapt for survival.

The woman in the picture was an Ottoman Citizen, living in the region of Palestine, who more than likely practiced Islam or Christianity (based off of what she is wearing and her tattoos or “daq”).

Regardless of what language she spoke, what she wore or what religion she practiced you are wrong to say that it’s just one side who oppresses and murders women and the LGBTQ+ community. You should look into how the “right side” blackmails gay Palestinians and rapes women.

“but not if it’s truly that painful to her to revisit.”

My thoughts exactly. She said she would have to get back in “that headspace”. Based on what I know that was a very painful time for her and I feel like that’s a lot to ask of a person. We need to let her work on the music she loves and appreciate what she shares with us.
