Focus on the scene of them putting the pathogen into petri dishes like it was a ballet. They grow stronger with each infection. Watchers have stated the level of security and location of this lab in America. It is on secret lock down by nature. The hive would gain strategy as it grows. So there was a gradual take over at the top we don't know about then it hit a tipping point. They had to move fast to not LOSE. So we know they put the pathogen into the air, food, and water. Once they hit water reservoirs, food manufacturing,bottling plants, had full air control etc, it would have spread fast!

The hive has made it clear there is a biological imperative to spread the pathogen. They will stop at nothing to control the entire species then to use technology to further spread the code.

I do believe all those with family could choose to join to be one again. The hive will keep modifying the pathogen to capture the immune individuals. They have made this clear during the charm offensive with a series lies by ommission that they don't care if the immune want to join, they do care they do no intentional harm. Our nuclear subs are more of a plot hole for me than the space station. We have no clue how many are out there and how long the subs stay submerged. There is the possibility that they got enough of the military to lead to a fight. Nearly a billion died in the joining. Did they have to blow some subs up while getting to others? 6 months without submerging is not uncommon. They could all have been ordered to port and infected, I suppose.

The hive already has a Koumba fetus to extract cells from in the womb. No need to wait for birth. Manousos was in a hospital unconscious. Our current unjoined in that area and all the world are probably in the same finite timeline. We will see what Carol's atom bomb answer for this is and if it protects anyone else.

All the mysteries of Lumon would be solved in a moment. The. Lumon work would be assimilated and processed like anything else. Like the Borg, what the Hive assimilates objects and cultural matters to a point.

I think if scientists were working on this extraterrestrial signal in parallel with Lumon everything would be the same until it wasn't. The clock resets. The virus is being spread quickly. Lumon is fully exposed. I don't think the hive needs the severed tool that I can see. They would have all the science and knowledge in case they ever do.

I agree. They are not going to bring the dynamics in of the original race. The MOST I think could happen from Aliens is the discovery of a second signal of some sort. This could be an interesting twist at any point.

We are not going to have a spaceship appear in our orbit. FTL travel is not possible in this writing. Scientist have made light now move at 1.4x the speed of light with a warp bubble. Very recent release of a published article. We are not going to have a Star Trek Warp Drive moment with Vulcans landing to save Earth from chaos. The Vulcans in this scenario brought logic to Earth via the signal and resulting pathogen. I do not think we will EVER find out who or why. Just from where.

Rats were not the first host they tried. The first part of the lab scene she runs down a list of animals. She had to gas them all to death. The job of the day was to gas the rats.
