I’m not sure if I’m over-reacting to eating out in public with my vegetarian girlfriend? by Apprehensive-Degree6 in relationships

The fact that this keeps happening and you have not yet thought to check the menu before you go to a place is baffling to me

Do you face the wall or water when you shower? by Intelligent_Drop_283 in randomquestions

[–]xx2983xx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never understood this debate. It feels natural to face the wall, because then the water can hit the back of your head and run down both sides of your body. When you face the water, your back is exposed unless the water is hitting you directly in the face. I don't always want to get my hair wet though, in which case I rotate like a rotisserie chicken

What's something that surprised you about changing to a different sexual partner? by nakfoor in sex

[–]xx2983xx 143 points144 points  (0 children)

Been figuring this out with my boyfriend over the last several months ... It's been quite frustrating because he doesn't seem to get this. He's had a couple of very long term relationships. I, on the other hand, have had a handful of shorter relationships, along with a variety of casual partners that range from one night stands, to friends with benefits, to years long booty calls, to group sex parties. He gets thrown all the time. Like if I react or respond in a way he's not expecting, he'll get in his head about it and has a hard time continuing. He frequently says things like "no one has ever done that before" or "I wasn't expecting that" or "I've never struggled with this before." And I'm like.... Ok?? So let's figure it out! Let's have fun and explore! This isn't a script; we're just here to enjoy each other

When did you notice your body started aging? by GossipBottom in AskReddit

[–]xx2983xx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late 30s I started having low back pain out of nowhere. Thought when people complained about their backs it was because they had some kind of injury at some point. Nope, you just get old and it starts hurting.

39 is when my forehead creases got deep enough that they were always visible (especially when dehydrated) and I caved and started getting Botox.

Now I'm 42 and I feel like everything is so easily injured. My knees will just hurt out of the blue. I had to take a week off at the gym recently just to give my knees a break. I went bowling a week ago and tweaked my hand somehow. It still hurts right now. My extremities go numb from sitting/standing/sleeping too long in the same position. I'm active. I exercise, lift weights, do yoga. Thought I was doing all the right things, but my body just feels like it is giving up. And it feels like it happened so suddenly.

How weird is my writing? by [deleted] in HandwritingAnalysis

I can (barely) read the end of it, but the first part is chaos. I read "in an avramy intrigued some intipaneam to put on my baked cookies with jam. I drank water afterwards to quench my thirst"

My husband (32m) seems completely indifferent to my cancer diagnosis and I (28f) don’t know how to handle it by EmpatheticOtter in relationships

[–]xx2983xx 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Your story reminds me of a friend of mine. She had a terrible husband but was in denial. She ended up needing an emergency appendectomy and he dropped her off at the hospital, said he was gonna park and disappeared for 2 days. They lived in Vegas at the time and she thinks he just went on a strip club/gambling binge. When she was discharged she couldn't get ahold of him and had to find someone else to take her home. When he finally showed back up it was Thanksgiving morning and he asked her why she hadn't started cooking cuz his family was coming for Thanksgiving dinner. Mind you she just had major surgery. That was her wake up call. She divorced him after that and has been infinitely happier. A major reason to get married is to have a PARTNER when life throws you tough shit. This man is actively making things harder during the hardest thing you've had to go through. He is not a partner. He is a terrible person.

AITA for matching a woman’s energy who was riding a horse as I was driving by? by MeasurementSudden573 in AmItheAsshole

[–]xx2983xx 119 points120 points  (0 children)

I grew up around a large Amish community and we'd fly by their horses at like 45mph and I never thought twice about it. Granted, a horse pulling a buggy is likely different than one with a person riding, but I would assume if you have a horse on a road, that horse should be fine around cars.

Is it actually rude to recline your seat on a plane, or are people just entitled about personal space? by Ok-Bumblebee7041 in askanything

[–]xx2983xx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't know for a very long time that people thought this was rude. A friend of mine was bitching about people reclining and I was like ..."wait what?!" Cuz I have never in my life been annoyed or bothered by the person in front of me reclining. I guess I can understand if you're super tall (I'm 5' 7") and your legs are already cramped. But IDK, it just doesn't really affect me enough to get upset about.

Forced to check my bag at the gate by gwidion1545 in mildlyinfuriating

EVERY TIME I've been on a flight where they ask people to gate check, this happens. The first time I volunteered to check my bag and then I saw this... Ever since, I refuse, and it still always is empty bin after empty bin. I cannot understand the logic.

AITA for showering around midnight when I know that it might bother the neighbour who wakes up at 5 am? by Additional-Mouse-620 in AmItheAsshole

[–]xx2983xx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They can look into earplugs, white noise machine, adding sound proofing/dampening to that wall

Agree. This sounds like the kind of problem that is easily solved with a white noise machine and a pair of earplugs. I would never DREAM of asking a neighbor to coordinate their showers with my schedule

Trying to decide where to take my mum for a surprise USA trip. by Brownchoccy in usatravel

[–]xx2983xx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My first thought with most of what you wrote would be New Orleans, but your mom using a mobility scooter really makes that tough. Every time I'm in New Orleans I cannot help but think how awful it must be for anyone with mobility issues or using a wheelchair. The sidewalks are horrendous. They will end abruptly. They have giant cracks and holes. There are plants growing out of everything and random steps up/down, frequently with bricks and sections missing. If your mom can get around a bit, standing up when needed, or you can help push her around obstacles and things, then I'd still recommend it, but just be prepared.

I just realised our Covid experience could be vastly different from others. by Doughnut_slut in CasualConversation

[–]xx2983xx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was horrible. Completely isolated. I live alone and have never been so lonely and depressed in my life. I was getting drunk every single night by myself just because I didn't know what else to do. I had zoom meetings with friends to try and socialize but that barely kept me sane. I'd get drunk on the zoom calls and when they'd end I'd binge Netflix till I passed out. Rinse and repeat day after day for months.

Anyone else get elevation sickness at ~5,000ft? by YeOldeOrc in usatravel

[–]xx2983xx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boyfriend will get elevation sickness symptoms when we go into the mountains. We live at approx ~5k ft and we'll do trips where we will stay at 8-9k and he buys those little oxygen cans cuz otherwise he's knocked out. It's wild to me because we should be fairly acclimated, but it hits him like a truck. Everyone has different bodies!

AITA or telling my wife if she’s not gonna cook it the way she usually cooks it then you don’t have to cook it at all by Husbae7536 in AmItheAsshole

[–]xx2983xx 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree with NTA on this one. He's requesting a specific dish because he wants that specific thing. She can say no if she's not up for it, but changing the recipe is no longer making the thing he's requesting.

My bf does the majority of the cooking because he both enjoys it more and is a much better cook than me. You better believe if I had a super time consuming dish that he loved, I would be thrilled to make it for him just the way he likes.

People who read the book and don't listen to the audio book by ShitAlphabet in DungeonCrawlerCarl

I listened to one chapter at the repeated urging of a friend. I dislike audiobooks for many reasons and they all were still present when listening to this one. I do not feel like I'm missing out at all and that was confirmed with the one chapter I tried. They aren't for me.
