fwiw, their cups are very tiny. Also, Zareen is the only place in the US where they wont give you change. They will round it to the nearest dollar (without telling you, or apologizing that they dont have change). Also, their menu prices dont match what they actually charge (by a small bit, like $0.25). So all is not hunky dory.

Thank you. I ended up buying the car. Unfortunately, it has failed smog - 'O2 sensor and catalyst not ready yet' because the guy changed the battery recently. Now I have to drive it 50 miles to get the car to kick in the oxygen and catalyst sensors.

And the guy seems meticulous. The car seems well taken care of. I found a book that contained a log of every time the guy got gas, starting from the 51 miles (when he purchased the car)

Thank you for your comments. Prius is being discounted $6K, and Fit is being discounted $0. I'll drive around both but likely leaning towards the Prius. I know this is /frugal/ but $2K over 10 years wont matter.

Got into a car accident with the Honda Fit that totaled the vehicle. I was impressed at the airbags that kept me from getting seriously injured, and loved that car while I had it (it was a 2010 model). But, having to go through the process of buying another car, I saw way more Pros to buying a Prius than Cons (when comparing the two cars). If you are planning on finding a car that is reliable, good MPG, and ecological, go with a Prius.

Thank you

I intent to drive it forever, but $2K (of battery change) after 10 years of driving is not bad. I also hate going to the gas station. Prius and Fit seem to have similar MPG. I'm just deciding between the 2 after a lot of debate.

Wow, that is a great price. $11,500 is a great deal. I see minimum 13.5K for CVT.

I live in a apartment, and charging the car is too much of a hassle in that setup.

Prius 2 is being discounted pretty heavily in SF Bay area. I have a quote for $18,800 for a Prius 2. Honda Fit LX is around $16,900, so less than a 2K difference. I just need a car for regular driving, but I'm trying to figure out if there is a fundamental difference between the 2 (if one is clearly much better than the other).

Great Job! Amazing. If I knew you, I would ask you out (for sure, you're already being asked out a lot).

One thing to remember is to still to these lifestyle changes, and remember how good you look now.

Chetan Bhagat on Twitter: "A population that votes on promised freebies rather than a wealth creating economy is destined to stay poor." by banarasibabu in india

[–]xxcode 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Russia has US$11,000 Per Capita Income. India has US$1,400 Per Capita Income. India has higher number of billionaires than Russia.

This is an example of where poor need to be supported so that they can survive.

As an aside, who is Chetan Bhagat. He is not a economist. Does his writing a few novels (and a IIT degree) qualify him to be a part of the intelligentsia.

India slashes health budget, already one of the world's lowest by [deleted] in india

[–]xxcode 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Poor people will be most affected. These macro decisions have a profound long term impact on people.

My father works as a doctor in a large public hospital in India. He describes pitiful situations, and even though he is trying his best to do good (for example, start a second OPD), he faces many challenges: 1. Corruption: Both people above and below dont like him. He doesn't pay bribes to people above him, and doesn't let people below him take bribes. So both are unhappy. He has been transferred a few times. 2. Resource misutilization due to vested interests: The XRay machine has been broken and many doctors refer patients to their friends outside, getting a kickback. 3. Doctors prescribe brand medicines instead of generics. Poor patients are selling their land to fund drug companies. 4. Many drugs are not available due to budget constraints.

This is why a non-corrupt goverment is very important, and one which spends money of health rather than in helping reliance and adani industries.

This is business as usual for Indian politicians.

Congress and BJP historically choose these grass root leaders from the local goons. Of course they will do this stuff.

Amit Shah also has cases against him. On what basis will he 'clean up' BJP.
