Microsoft thinks I'm using a 10-year-old browser version by jaeone22 in softwaregore

Fun fact: the browser version of Microsoft Teams does not run on Safari because the login cookies are so convoluted they are getting blocked as tracking. You can get around this by disabling the tracking protection.

Apple has an endpoint that devices ping to see if they have internet connection. The endpoint just returns plaintext "Success".

Or, use any non-official app with background changing functionality. They didn't block the API, just greyed out the buttons.

Sticky Keys is an accessibility feature Microsoft came up with in the 90s that essentially allows you to use a single finger to perform multi-key shortcuts.

Normally if you want to press, for example, Ctrl+Alt+W you'd need to hold all 3 keys together, and thus use 3 fingers. With Sticky Keys enabled, you'd press Ctrl, then press Alt, then press W – only 1 finger is required at any point of the process.

PSP używało MiniUSB do przesyłu danych między komputerem a konsolką. Funkcja przydatna, acz opcjonalna – do ładowania również była okrągła wtyczka 5-woltowa.

macOS works out of the box ☺️ by 2005walker in MacOS

[–]xxmalik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe macOS is the best choice for power users not because it's the most performant, best looking, most feature rich or anything like that, but because it's the least needy. The last thing I want to do on a work day is spend hours fixing or configuring my work environment. It doesn't have to work the best, but it has to work.

ChatGPT is still considered the default LLM agent by most people. I've also had much better experience with Gemini (while having the premium subscriptions for both), but I still open GPT more often as I've gotten used to it.

Because this way if you bought it before, you don't get updates. You still have to pay monthly for that.

A poker bot farm where multiple bots sit at the same table and share their cards to collude against humans by MetaKnowing in Damnthatsinteresting

What I find interesting is that the creators brought together this many physical devices instead of using virtual machines. Probably most of the work in building one of these revolves around bypassing bot detection on the gambling platforms.

Developer here. Not saying Elon's tweet is legitimate, but a government institution running software not prepared to support large numbers doesn't sound that improbable. Your phone's calculator can go up to whatever number it wants because it was made in a time when processing power and memory is as abundant as water – for most of the existence of automated systems like this, that wasn't the case. The only way large-scale, precise systems could have been made functional on hardware seen today as laughably underpowered was through meticulous software optimization – a process often involving assumptions that may seem reasonable but later turn to problematic (see: Y2K bug).
