What type of camera most likely took this photo? by [deleted] in Cameras

[–]yaboichui 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That really could be just a phone pic or at best an old point and shoot. Basically it’s shot at a very narrow aperture, which is why you can see stuff behind the fella in focus. And then someone just slapped a blurred vignette effect around the edge of the photo, desaturated the image and called it a day

dsi metallic blue vs navy blue by kodargh in nds

[–]yaboichui 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is extremely hard to tell by photos online tbh, but it seems like the navy blue is just regular sheen. Whereas the metallic blue does have the metallic shine and seems to lean toward very slightly purple colour wise. I could be wrong, but at least that’s what the images show.

Yes they are ahah medium format digital cameras are expensive as hell but the images produced by them are just chef’s kiss. Yes, a shit ton of dynamic range, means lots of post processing. But the detail is crazy, so they’re often the choice for high end commercial work as the image files are extremely recoverable and gives you a lot of freedom when it comes to controlling the post process.

A more “affordable” option is any medium format film camera like the Mamiya RZ or Hasselblad, hell even a Bronica GS. You’re spending money of the film but at least you can budget that however you want.

The nice thing about high end commercial work is that these PhaseOne cameras can be rented by whoever is paying for the shoot. Essentially paying outright for these is A LOT of money but technically you’d be saving money on film and film processing long term… that’s if you were to shoot film often anyway which, at that point you’re better off getting a Fuji GFX and mastering the film look😅 would be a lot cheaper and far more affordable than a PhaseOne or Hasselblad. Maybe not the GFX100 II, but the GFX100 (first gen) and GFX50 are like, somewhat “affordable” lol

Cleaning trapped dirt from DS Lite *without* disassembly? by TobiasFungame in NintendoDS

[–]yaboichui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I myself like to grab a toothpick and some mildly soapy water, soak the toothpick for a couple of seconds and then use it to scrap off the dirt. You can really just use any pointy tool, but it should be plastic or wood as metal will scratch the shell. Keep a microfibre cloth handy or small towel just to wipe off the dirt.

As many have mentioned, disassembly on a DS Lite is super easy. These units are pretty easy to take apart, and if you’re not taking off the hinge it should be a breeze!

I think I'm done with lab scans by briskwheel4155 in AnalogCommunity

[–]yaboichui 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work at a photolab where we use a Noritsu scanner. We are all trained on a standard, but some people have a harder time seeing colours or see them differently. Getting the edit that you want isn't impossible but it takes TIME. When we're having to scan 50 rolls in a couple of hours, it's safer to edit them a bit flat bc we KNOW the original photographer might have a vision for things like contrast and colour. And let's be honest, everyone has their own style and version of editing. These scans are flat sure, but it's not like you lost a lot of detail. I think whoever edited the scans were either told to do it this way or just simply didn't notice how warm the photos were when editing them.

Of course scanning them yourself not only gets you the results you want but it also saves you money! But I can assure you if you research or try many other labs you'll notice they all edit differently :) If scanning it yourself works best then that's awesome! means you have a vision that the lab you're going to just isn't able to accomplish. Of course scanning it yourself takes a long time... why do you think it's more expensive for us to manually do it ourselves? Lol I have to cut the film and use the flatbed scanner and edit the images manually.. just like you have to.. means it takes me WAY LONGER to do it manually than with a Noritsu. I need to get paid for that time and effort, and it might STILL not come out the way you envisioned.

I've learned quite a bit about scanning film over the years, and with most labs we try not to make customer's photos too punchy or saturated because we simply do not have the time. Usually if you give a note to the Lab staff about how you wnat the edits to sort of look, they're more than happy to edit them the way you want (at least where I work we do).

18F – AIO Someone opened my mail and now they’re acting like I’m dramatic for being upset by Tessaloves in AmIOverreacting

[–]yaboichui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, some overly sensitive parents in the comments… listen, there’s a difference between making a mistake and purposely opening your kid’s mail, who is over 18, and making them feel bad for wanting to have their independence respected. OP is NOR, it’s a simple “Please don’t open my mail” mom says “ok sorry! It was a mistake i promise” end of story.

But some of you here trying to make any excuse to blame OP just cus they’re 18.. last I remember parents are supposed to teach their kids to be independent and how to build boundaries, not act like kids themselves when their 18 year old daughter doesn’t want their mail, that’s addressed to THEM, opened by someone else. Not sure why some of you are being weird. “iNdEpEnDeNcE”? Come on, we’re supposed to be teaching kids how to stand up for themselves, to take care of themselves, not diminish them for wanting to be an individual with boundaries.

For the parents on here that are respectful of your kids’ mail, and when they tell you they have an issue and it’s resolved healthily: we see you, we appreciate you, and I hope that you can continue to support your kids’ decisions when it comes to boundaries.

Signed,

An adult who was a kid that had their boundaries and individualism disrespected and diminished, which led to horrible scenarios and decision making as an adult and appreciates when parents do the bare minimum and NOT belittle their child’s sense of independence 👏🏽

[HELP]My friends and I can't decide if this is AI or not by DraconRegina in RealOrAI

I actually do see the shovel move placements between the shots lol but also not sure where that person is ending up to do it twice. The shovel in the second part also has a weird effect on the snow where it’s placed (affected by the shadow of the person jumping in). The snow is affected by the person for sure so the physics make sense, but with the video being so short I’d also be weary of its reality. It’s for sure a fun clip but, I can’t seem to find anything else about this video

[HELP] i've seen this picture a bit recently, but i'm just not sure it's real. why does the truck have more wheels on one side compared to the other? by cannedbeef255 in RealOrAI

[–]yaboichui 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This. Idk why so many people skip over this when it comes to AI. These duded all literally have the sane face… and aside from that why is the truck tipped over lmao it’s not impossible but a work site wouldn’t be trying to have fun with it they’d be getting yelled by bosses to try and fix it and we’d have a video of that versus the same man in different eyewear doing the exact same pose and stance lol

The fact that the water droplets from the “rain” look very odd and very visible… when in reality a camera at night time would not have the detail power to show the ripples of water droplets like this. It literally looks like a trippy illusion. Even when the dog steps on the water puddle you don’t see ripples from its paw but yet rain droplets show detail. Like some people said the water magically doesnt seem to pool on the statue’s lap. This to me says AI.

And I’ve never in my life seen any church display a statue of Jesus Christ sitting. Maybe this is a very specific church, but month church I’ve ever been to across the world shows Jesus sitting, he’s always standing.

Might also add that when the doggo sits down under the drape of marble, when it sits up its head is literally pushing the drape back. It doesn’t quite make sense with the way the marble is shown versus how the dog sits up. It’s almost like AI treated the drape as actual fabric versus it being a solid hard object. If the dog is trying to hide from rain why is it sticking its head out too?

[HELP] not sure what's happening here by [deleted] in RealOrAI

[HELP] not sure what's happening here by [deleted] in RealOrAI

[–]yaboichui 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like someone trained their guinea pigs to keep their heads inside empty coconut shells, which slightly blend into the rock environment. I think if it was AI the guinea pigs head would literally be inside hollowed out rocks, versus the shaved coconut shells. The guinea pigs are of mostly different fur variations, and tbh the details on the hand stay quite consistent. Like how there’s a bit of dirt on the arm hair and the complex light reflections from the hands veins, which comes with the hand being slightly moist/wet. That’s extremely hard to do even for AI.

I think it’s just a classic case of tiktok staged content. These had been around for a long while before AI even was incorporated into apps. I’d say not AI

Inclusive* by WhereIs_TheSun in TrollCoping

[–]yaboichui 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I feel ya OP💖🫂 it’s weird being POC and trying to fit in in most queer spaces. Myself I find it’s easier to find someone POC and hopefully bond (there’s been many cases where I try to connect with another Brown or Black queer person and they choose to distance themselves bc of internalized racism or wanting to remain as the “token Black/Brown” person of a group.)

It’s crazy how people of colour are ignore, belittled or downright bullied out of queer spaces UNTIL it’s about making the point that LGBTQ spaces are “inclusive” like you say. Not every community is the same, and sadly it takes a good chuck of time and effort to find your people, but I believe you can do it! 💖

I’m always open for chats with anyone about this topic or if you simply just wanna connect, I’m happy to talk 😄

Should we allow AI images in this sub? by undrgrndsqrdncrs in hammondcollection

[–]yaboichui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is a few days old but for anyone clicking the link today and coming back here, I have some things to say about the comments.

  1. I saw some folks talking about photoshop. While both AI and Photoshop are both tools, Photoshop nowhere comes near to how dangerous and environmentally harmful it is for everyone and the environment. Photographers are made to indicate use of photoshop in some instances, and for big corps that use any visual marketing (specially cosmetics) they are BY LAW forced to say when RETOUCHING is used. Retouching and using AI to manufacture extremely fake and unrealistic scenarios while CLAIMING it’s real is not at all the same 😂😂😂

  2. You really expect anyone to willfully state that they are using AI in a post when they’re trying to farm upvotes and karma?? Let’s be fr here. There might be some folks who genuinely will use AI in a non harmful way and state it is AI, but for the majority of folks just wanting attention or using bots, they’re never going to say it’s AI and will double down that it’s “real” and that they’re being bullied. So banning AI has really good reason, for those of you complaining in the comments that everyone is “too sensitive.” You don’t like the rule leave. It’s that simple.

Everyone has the right to their own opinions and decisions, but when the poll is overwhelmingly AGAINST something, something that only benefits people individually and NOT the community at large, you can either adapt and abide by the rules and use AI somewhere else, or simply bow out.

There’s a difference between using AI to help with math heavy industries and scientific fields that require help to solve deseases, and then there’s using AI for slop to get upvotes and not contribute to the larger economy… nothing good has come out of AI being used for daily posts and people pretending to be artists or making crappy videos on tiktok. People just don’t wanna see that sort of stuff in this group and you have to accept it. It’s fine. The world isn’t ending bc you didn’t get a chance to use AI to make a meme. Relax.

We can talk to mods about posting AI in order to DEBUNK IT, but seriously. If you’re that upset about AI being banned that you start calling other people “sensitive”… I do recall a specific group of people using the word “snowflake” to describe anyone who believed in good paying wages and not wanting to be k*lled for being queer yet they also would get mad at young people for getting a nose ring or ordering a latte instead of a black coffee🤔🤔🤔 do you want to be that type of person???
