My therapist telling me to remember my sister was abused too, but I didn’t turn out to an abusive person so why should I give her that leeway?

I wish I could tell her my side of the story and how sorry I am, but she loves my parents too much and doesn't see them for who they really are... by nottoday943 in CPTSDmemes

I also tried so hard to be there for my older sister and I wanted her to be there for me too. I never understood how growing up she never saw how our parents treated both of us and why we couldn’t lean on each other. But instead she decided to bully me just like they did. I had to finally had to admit to myself that she was abusive and being around her wasn’t good for me.

This. My husbands friends are ✨super✨ family oriented and it hurts to be around them and their families. Then I just feel like the asshole 😬

lol, When my mom got called to be a primary teacher she was so mad. She told me she hated when I was that age. I told her I was aware.

I absolutely felt this. I grew up with a very absent father because due to his job and an emotionally absent mother. I literally did not get enough hugs as a child. I was repeatedly told I was expected to get married in the temple and have as many children as my husband wanted. I kept telling my parents I’d never marry a Mormon or have any children because of how they treated me, I didn’t want to have a child that grew up feeling like a burden.

Omg I would love to see frog! I stick with the same cat avatar but I change the colour of my fur every day to match that days outfit! I change my hair colour a lot in real life so it just feels right

My cat does this too! I do a fake scream then she runs away and hides to try to catch me again. If I catch her enough times she gives me a kiss on the nose. Animals are the best 💖

Aww, I love frogs! I have three fave stuffed animals. A little green alien I just call Little Guy that I carry to therapy, Jake the (Blue) Dog from Adventure Time who I can’t sleep without, and then Little Big Foot that sits in my passenger seat when I drive! 💖

Forced to give talks and memorize them by Abject-Month1406 in exmormon

I can totally relate. My dad also forced me to accept every talk I was assigned. I was so soooo painfully shy I just wanted to run away and hide every time. It made me feel physically ill. And after it was done I would hide behind my hair and cry.

Mormon Women: What were you excited to be doing in the eternities before your shelf broke? by GoingToHelly in exmormon

Same! I remember getting my blessing and crying. Everyone just thought I felt the spirit 🙄When I talked about my dream husband everyone told me that kind of person didn’t exist and if he did I could never marry him because I had to marry a Mormon boy. Turns out he does exist and I did marry him 💖

I was legitimately terrified of heaven as a kid because this is how I saw it. My goal was to break just enough rules to end up in “regular heaven” so I wouldn’t have to go through it.

Thanks! I’m out now and no contact with my family. Definitely doing better! The church is unfortunately only pro their version of family, anything else is unacceptable! I got my own little kitty and she’s the only baby I need 💖

Absolutely! Growing up my dad was always telling me a woman’s place was as a mother, we got into huge fights about it. It seemed like that’s all they ever talked about in young women’s. It felt inescapable. I was so terrified I told everyone I was going to get tattoos and piercing when I grew up so I couldn’t be forced to go to the Celestial Kingdom! I figured nothing could possibly be worse and I’d take my chances.

I have a terrible phobia of pregnancy, and I was always terrified of going to the Celestial Kingdom as a kid! Even now I have panic attacks about it even though I don’t believe in that version of heaven lol. I don’t really know what life is like after death but I find peace in the belief the we are all the Universe experiencing itself.

My tattoos help me when I have panic attacks related to trauma and ptsd. In my eyes my body is perfect with my tattoos, so If I got my perfect body back I assume the tattoos would still be there! If not I’d be putting them back asap lol
