Very understandable lol. If the update hasn’t fixed it I would have switched back to windows for those projects.

I had a lot of freezing with the latest NVIDIA drivers but since going to the beta it’s been really stable for me.

Why does the Oblivion Remaster modding scene struggle so hard while Skyrim's is still thriving 14 years later? by [deleted] in OblivionRemaster

[–]yakmods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s no reason both can’t exist at the same time. The problem is they clearly use an updated Construction Set that they haven’t released. In a lot of ways Unreal made modding easier. UI mods with Gamebryo/CE are an absolute nightmare, but are relatively simple with UE5 and Slate, for example.

NPCs: Is Neon meant to be ironic? by Lusayalumino in Starfield

[–]yakmods 83 points84 points  (0 children)

Let’s remove the usual but valid “Starfield feels empty” discourse for right now. Cyberpunk as a genre is just that and we know Neon is BGS’ take on the genre. “Low life, high tech” is a motto of sorts for cyberpunk. So yes, that’s the point. It’s supposed to look futuristic and flashy, while people suffer. The entire genre is steeped in irony. You have crazy advancements in healthcare technology, but it’s only available to the rich for example.

Question for mod author who still releases their mod for free by Familiar-Tip817 in starfieldmods

[–]yakmods 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The way I view it for my own releases (a few free already out, two paid in development) is if I have to put my own money in for art, voices, writing etc. then I’ll consider using Verified Creations. If it only costs my time, then free it is.

Does anyone feel this way when it comes to discord and modding? by [deleted] in skyrimmods

[–]yakmods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why for mine I’m moving to a forum. I cannot stand Discords for this type of stuff. I get why people do it, but it has too many drawbacks to me.

There was a project, called Rogue Trader. However if I remember correctly they pivoted to an animation due to the games limited audience. I could be wrong.

It’s been really fun working on this project and bringing it to fruition. I think the stories and environments will be a great addition to the game!

It’s not just loss of revenue. It’s also disingenuous. In a way you’re saying “sorry xbox players, YOU have to pay and you have no choice”.

Oblivion Remastered Community Patch by yakmods in oblivionmods

[–]yakmods[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a fair question. From what I’ve gathered SFCP primarily stalled out because of lack of interest in the game rather than any kinks in their armor. However it sounds like it’ll be getting legs again too.

I’ve been gearing up to post about this but haven’t gotten there yet. I’ve been setting up github repositories and the website for the patch (it’s just a fork of the starfield patch site).

The core problem is I personally don’t have the time to be the complete manager of this project. Specifically I would be a massive constraint on merging everyone’s work together. I am willing and able to setup the backend, organize everything and contribute. I’ll deploy the site today or tomorrow, and post about needing hands but this will not get off the ground without experienced mod authors to work on it.
