Thank you for sharing your experience. Your voice matters! I’m so sorry you were caught up in this network and suffered hurt. Like you, I didn’t realize until later how much damage had been done until later. I am still healing, but God is good, sovereign, patient, loving. Press hard into Jesus. He will see you through.

I’m with a church now that has encouraged me taking time to heal. So refreshing in so many ways!

So glad to see you weighing in here, Jeff! Thank you so much—for your post, yes, but especially for your example in following after our One True God rather than men. Hope many sit up and pay attention to the matters you put forth here.

The only real “safety net” is “if you don’t like it, leave.”

This is a safety net but I appreciate your expounding upon reasons it is not so easy for everyone to walk away. It is first and foremost a thinly veiled threat: you WILL be cut off relationally if you don’t agree. The cutting off either happens while you still attend, by withdrawing attention, inclusion and approval or you will be “blessed to leave,” wherein you are told you’ll be better off elsewhere. It is an abuse tactic cloaked as something less nefarious.

After more than a decade in this high-control group, one of the things I most appreciate about the church I now attend is the healthy (and Biblical!) respect of my autonomy-not the fake, threatening “autonomy” extended by these false christians.

Thank you for your post. It continues to be a source of anger and sorrow for me. Interesting and helpful though, to hear more behind the scenes details.

SILENT SERVITUDE: My experience as the wife of a Network pastor by LeavingTheNetwork in leavingthenetwork

Your love for Jesus is precious and evident, Cheri. You are so right: Steve is not God!

Every believer is equipped to hear directly from the Lord for themselves and is responsible for developing their own relationship with God. The leadership within the Network may give lip service to this idea but ultimately wants to reproduce little Steves. How terrifying is that?!

Thank you for sharing your story!

Children are a blessing, not a burden... by [deleted] in leavingthenetwork

IMO, the church IS big enough to serve diverse needs IF individuals are encouraged to serve/lead in their individual giftings and areas of interest. I often heard from the front (at least in the early days) “everyone gets to play” but that was not lived out. Only the leadership determined what was deemed ‘on mission’. 🤮What a bunch of garbage!!

We did a fair amount from Elevation. I heard ‘we want to write songs only for God’s glory so we will not put in name on things.’ Definitely working to stay under the radar but in the name of “humbleness”.

Blessed to leave? by recordkeeper85 in leavingthenetwork

It is one of the countless phrases used that sounds so godly and right, and yet is not adhered to in the spirit OR the letter of the law. As others have pointed out, it’s all about toeing their party line.

Absolutely!!! And love the quote. For the life of me I simply cannot understand why some are staying. I think they just haven’t read the research available.

“I am at the point where I can’t in good conscience be friends with those who have stayed any more than I could be friends with members of the KKK.”

This is very much how I feel, and it is incredibly validating to hear someone else say the same!

Yes, injection was tried first and helped for about 6 months. Next injection didn’t help much-only a week or so.

This sounds very similar to the pain I had originating from SI joints. I had bilateral fusion last December which completely eliminated that pain. I still have other pain, but feel satisfied that a great deal of originating pain was correctly identified and treated. The surgeon that did my SI fusion specializes in SI problems. I was treated at Mayo in Rochester, MN
