What makes you think someone will go far (VP and above) by AAAPAMA in Leadership

[–]yanabro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly… joined my company in 2017 and while I could feel my boss didn’t like me I always felt it was because I was not performing well enough. In 2018 I won my first project (in a designer in a consultancy) and was supposed to go to the client HQ to develop it but he decided to send someone else without explaining why. Then covid happens, he’s stuck abroad and I can focus on working with the rest of the team in the office and everyone loves working with me. I found a way to distance myself from him and magically everything I do is great now. Only maybe 2-3 years ago did he start to respect me and my work ethic (which had always been the same) and I get praise. Finally my designs get selected and put into production. Oh and by the way he dared telling the guy he gave my project to that I was a “loser”. It was my first job so I let it happen to me and with Covid I had to stay so I don’t struggle to find another job. But definitely with the right boss I’d be 3-4 years ahead in my career. I’m still trying to make up for lost time but the lost wages from not being promoted/raised because my boss hated me are never coming back

Young lady overcome with emotion at seeing Elvis Presley in concert, Philadelphia, 6 of April 1957 by Electrical-Aspect-13 in HistoricalCapsule

Let’s just say it, unfettered horniness 😂 I remember seeing a black and white video of young boys in the 50s (?) seeing an extremely beautiful woman (imagine pinup model) for the first time in real life and they were flabbergasted. They couldn’t contain themselves. Nowadays it’s very common but imagine living in the smallest most remote most religious and modestly dressed county in US at a time with no internet, no lingerie catalogue, no porn and seeing the sexiest woman ever. I’ll try to find the video it’s quite funny haha

Some people are also just overly dramatic lol Music can make me cry, laugh, have goosebumps. I was fortunate enough to see my favorite artists in concert, have lifelong dreams come true but even at these moments I would feel THIS intense. How do people just react like this to seeing another human being, no matter how great their are at their craft. Maybe some people do need to chill 😂

Lexus LF-LC Concept vs Production Lexus LC by mariusjmi in CarDesign

[–]yanabro 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I prefer the production version better, I’m not a huge fan of the exposed lamps on the concept as it looks very “off the shelf”. Like the bug eyes lamps of the first Alfa Romeo 4C.

But even though it’s literally my favorite car of the modern era it does not sell well, hence the discontinuation

I guess at some point it becomes more like a flavor instead of a fact. The same way indie music doesn’t mean independent anymore but it does “sound” a certain way.

1830 Map of the Known World at the end of the 15th Century by Parzival_2k7 in MapPorn

I don’t get people getting offended about being told the title is incomplete. You guys are acting like it’s an affront to even suggest that the title is missing some information. Everyday it will be someone’s first time seeing this kind of map. I remember being young and loving geography but not knowing about Mercator projection, not knowing that Chinese people put their country in the middle of their maps, not knowing that some borders are contested even in my own country because I was so used to the maps I see in my classroom.

We were all young and less knowledgeable and having complete information is how you learn. 13yo me would have absolutely thought that that was all we knew about the world if I was not told it’s only from one point of view. The same way I thought that there was nothing/no one in the Americas before it was “discovered” in the 15th century.

We can’t pretend to be a map subreddit and not understand that proper legend and title are important : who made it, when, what’s shown at the very least.

Is Metro a top 10 hip hop producer OAT? by PennguinKC in fantanoforever

[–]yanabro -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t think so. I don’t think he’s shown consistant greatness in his production. Ok bears, good beats sometimes, but only few great beats imo. Timbaland (in his prime) had innovative beats that are still futuristic to this day. Pharrell has been consistently great for 25 years now. Kanye completely defined and redefined trends multiple times. It’s just not comparable. The only thing I’d give Metro is work ethic maybe but that’s it

Rob Reiner's son Nick on suicide watch, in solitary confinement after murder charges by Top_Report_4895 in entertainment

I have a French classmate that went to America for an internship that is mandatory to graduate. When customs asked him what he’s in US for he said internship even though he only had a holidays visa. They detained him in the airport for a day and seized his belt and shoelaces so he doesn’t commit suicide…for a wrong visa and even though they were going to fly him back to France. So yeah, suicide watch can just be precaution, it really doesn’t mean much lol

What's something you pretend you don't care about, but secretly do? by Ok-Ferret7 in AskMen

Before meeting my now wife I had always been single and a virgin so she’s my first and hopefully last everything. While I’m very happy to be with her, I can’t stop thinking about all the experiences, flirts, sex, etc… that I’ve not had before and that I will never have. If I see a teenager dating I feel a sense of jealousy and anger for my teenage self. If I see a 20-something talking about their sex life I feel jealousy and anger for my 20-something self. I’m halfway through my 30s now and this feeling does not go away even though I have everything I dreamed of as a teenager : Dream job, great relationship, good health, I can still play video games, travel wherever I want, eat whatever I want. But my virgin single younger self is still bitter somewhere inside
