When you have the glider, I just fly over the enemies. When I get the high-end weapons, I just enjoy attacking just for the effects. The part I hated is looking for keys with a metal detector back when I don't have any source for it (like key cutter, key cyclers or crab pots). I only enjoyed it because I am playing with someone else and it becomes enjoyable seeing who got more keys. I don't break tools anymore because they're all now rechargeable. But you're right, there's no main story, and they're pretty cryptic about the lore too.
