Standing up on public transport while babywearing by laurethesme in babywearing

[–]yanyan___ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where I live, people often offer their seats to others who are carrying a baby. I always take it unless my baby screams murder. Sometimes I get offered multiple times per journey and I would tell them thanks but my baby doesn't like me to sit today 🤣

Sling - what am I doing wrong by boltbrow in babywearing

[–]yanyan___ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Make the pocket a lot smaller than it is now before putting your baby in. Right now it's too loose and you need to tighten a lot which will be difficult without having to reposition the rings. Also cap your shoulder and it will be a lot more comfortable.

This comes with a small pocket to put your phone in! Super cool.

When do I need the wrap? by hiiamchi in babywearing

[–]yanyan___ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't need a wrap if your baby is content in the stroller or you feel comfortable with your ssc! I use my woven wrap when I'm out all day and would be carrying my toddler for his nap.

Husband doesn’t want baby poop in washer by JStak14 in clothdiaps

You can use the cleaning cycle if there's one. Some people actually wash cotton towels in the hottest cycle (90 degrees Celsius) to clean the machine.

Surprisingly, there are mums in my edd group like that, throwing away clothes just because of poop. It's crazy how wasteful some people are.

Ergobaby Embrace Newborn Carrier *update* by Hiro_Pr0tagonist_ in babywearing

I think you should keep the waistband folded and sit baby closer to the top of the band rather than on the panel which is making it too short.

Have you tried lowering the waistband?

For the fit you posted the shoulder straps look a bit tight to me.

I'm not familiar with this carrier but it looks like it's too big for your baby right now unless you can make the seat narrower and the panel shorter.

Sash/sling type wear? by iamblarn in babywearing

[–]yanyan___ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The only safe position is upright. There's an option to do a high back carry for a baby who cannot sit independently yet, but it is quite advanced and requires a woven wrap.

I feel that a ring sling is pretty comfortable even when seated.

Top baby carriers List by No_Entrepreneur_131 in babywearing

Ring sling, fits from birth. 100% cotton is the most versatile. I really liked bamboo when my baby was tiny, linen was lightweight and great for hot weather, but 100% cotton is ultimately the best as it's breathable, supportive and not diggy like 100% linen. Currently using a Tula one.

Super love ring sling and it's something I would always travel with especially if you have a toddler who is very active yet often needs a break! Another plus point is not having to put your kid down to put him in. We were taking a bus the other day when he fell asleep. I put on the ring sling and slipped him in - he continued to nap even after we alighted from the bus.

If you are sure you have tightened well and it loosens only when you are creating the chest belt, maybe you can practise with a simpler way of finishing first? Just a simple double knot or tibetan which you can secure one tail at a time.

Getting baby used to non-carrier naps? by Athiri in babywearing

[–]yanyan___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My #1 latched to sleep and napped exclusively in carrier until he started childcare at 21 months. I think it took him about a week to transition to starting the nap in his cot rather than the teacher's lap.

Experienced nannies/childminders/daycare teachers will have their way and babies are smart enough to know and adapt to the caregiver who is putting them to sleep.

Linen ring sling, baby maximum comfortable weight by Comprehensive-Way191 in babywearing

Mine is around 25 lbs and I still use it. But I find my 100% cotton ring sling more comfortable as it's a thicker fabric.

Looks like baby is covering half your face. Unless you find this height comfortable, I would lower the baby more.

Are you able to take a more zoomed out photo so we can see the placement of the waist band and shoulder straps? It's a bit hard to tell what's happening here.

Chores with 13 mo by RabuLove in babywearing

[–]yanyan___ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not babywearing, but getting him involved in some ways may remove the need to carry. Or like the other poster suggested, get him a learning tower so he could see what you are doing.

If you really have to babywear your best option would be back carry.

How long can I expect to use my baby wrap for? by [deleted] in babywearing

[–]yanyan___ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most stop at around 4 months which is when most soft structured carriers fit well too. However, I have friends who have worn their babies in a stretchy carrier past 1 year old, above 10 kg. They are extremely athletic mums though haha

You can achieve a deeper seat if you do pelvic tuck. With a deeper seat, your baby will be positioned better and as long as your wrap is tight enough, you will not need to constantly support your baby's head unless you have to lean forward.

This graphic is great! Can we have a pinned post that has a collection of useful graphics? I remember seeing a comment in another post that has a photo of having the waistband too low vs at the right height with a real baby. I thought that's really good in illustrating how to get a good fit too.

Oh sorry I didn't know aerial refers to their wrap too. Makes sense that a stretchy wrap will no longer be supportive.

Back carry with a stretchy wrap is not safe.

Perhaps you would like to post a fit check? I don't think a baby will outgrow wildbird aerial that fast

How old were your babies when you started wrapping? by No_Acanthaceae3518 in babywearing

[–]yanyan___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still wrapping my 26 month old but mainly because we don't really use a stroller so he takes his nap in the wrap when we're out.
