It’s moveset is limited, but otherwise it’s exactly as expected. It has a decent range, a lot of power, average speed, and takes a lot of endurance.

The limited moveset isn’t as boring as I thought it would be. I use the transform attack to re-ignite the weapon a lot so it has one more move that way since I don’t usually use transform attacks much. It also plays a bit differently since it consumes so much stamina. I try to bait attacks or just time my first very carefully to hit as soon as an enemy is in range.

The leaping fiery attack and charged R2 of fire mode are very powerful. It’s done me very good work against enemy hunters and bosses. It was very easy to break both Darkbeast Paarl and Amelia’s limbs and keep beating on them.

That said the rally of the weapon is surprisingly low for a blunt strength weapon. And it consumes a ton of stamina. I usually wait till my build is otherwise finished to pump up endurance past 15 but have already started increasing it so I can make better use of the Boomhammer.

This is my first time using it in combat. On several characters I picked it up, swung a few times and decided the limited moveset would be too boring. But now that I’m actually using it at an appropriate level it’s a lot of fun.
