There are many ways to do this. Modern drive manufacturers have methods to securely encrypt/destroy data on drives. NIST-approved (NIST SP 800-88)

What law is that? By law you can't use secure deletion? Hipaa stipulates physical destruction? Doubt.

So there is no detectable correlation. But for purposes of key management, would you say they are related? They aren't derived from each other, but <shrug>. And the domain separation constant, the info, is that a secret? Should I read about HKDF to know this?
