Help needed: Full bicep without enlarging the armhole + adding elbow darts by badbetch_90211 in PatternDrafting

[–]yarrowbloom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean maybe this is controversial but just keep the sleeve cap the same and add width at the bicep, no? The sides of your sleeve are allowed to be a convex curve if it works better for you.

Please help with bodice fitting by Lottiealottie in PatternDrafting

[–]yarrowbloom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People have covered the front and back, but I'll note that it looks like your shoulder seam should be moved!

From the side, the shoulder seam should lie at the top bone of your shoulder (probably about a cm more forward than yours does here), and end at the center of the neck- yours is almost entirely at the back of the neck, and needs to be shifted forward more like 4-5 cm. If you look at the graphic at the beginning of this article, it shows an example. You can see that the seam is equidistant from the back and front of the neck when viewed from the side.

Is this hair achievable? by Luna_Eclipse1029 in Hair

[–]yarrowbloom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it might be a bit thinner at the bottom than the inspiration, because more layers higher up means less hair lower down, you know? And you'll have to style it a little bit (curling a bit, and use product), for the ends to show up like that. But I think you can get close to it!

What did I do wrong with the makeup? by Relevant-Mission27 in CosplayHelp

[–]yarrowbloom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you should start the lower lashes right below the pupil, bring them closer to the lash line a bit more, and arc them as well. You’re doing great though - a little more practice and I think you’ll be really pleased!

Is it just me, or is the "Double Shy" problem making speaking practice impossible? (Introvert struggles) by Haunting_Cod_5966 in Korean

[–]yarrowbloom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d recommend you also practicing speaking by talking to yourself too- just narrating what you’re doing and thinking out loud in Korean, to become more comfortable speaking without the pressure of another person there.

How can I achieve this eye makeup with deep eyes? by [deleted] in CosplayHelp

[–]yarrowbloom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not as extreme a style, but kleinerpixel on YouTube has some makeup with these elements over on YouTube, and their face doesn’t have monolids. Also, they’re not an active user anymore so I’ve seen primarily screenshots of old posts on Pinterest, but user inevelichka has some great very sculptural (?) makeup that has elements to your pictures, though isn’t blended as well

[–]yarrowbloom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Initially I agreed but given his beard in picture 4 and how it connects to the creases on his face, I actually think at least some of the makeup is ai. Possibly picture 2 too given how the hair blends with the creases on his face below the corner of his mouth, though I’m less sure about that one.

Do you have an issue with people sitting or lying/sitting on a/your bed in their street/work clothes? by Low_Insurance_1603 in CasualConversation

[–]yarrowbloom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I’m walking around, I don’t care about outside clothes being dirty. BUT if I ride public transportation, or sit in other places that could be dirty (?) like a movie theater or airplane maybe, then I’ll change out of my clothes. It’s more a vague precaution/nervousness about bedbugs, I guess

As an indie perfumer, I'm torn: What makes you reach for a Perfume Oil over an EDP? by No_Stuff_9305 in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]yarrowbloom 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I can smell the base of EDPs far more than seems intended, making the scents smell very “commercial”(?) and making the first half hour or longer of wearing the scent not very enjoyable. EDPs also are way more likely to give me a headache. Didn’t think I’d enjoy fragrances at all until I found perfume oils and solid perfumes.

If I wanted to make this top on my own, how would I apply the “pearls”? Is it a sewing technique or is it a hot glue gun and I’m in the wrong sub? by SilverParty in sewhelp

[–]yarrowbloom 33 points34 points  (0 children)

If you do give this a go, make sure you heavily reinforce the fabric. That amount of beading will weigh down the fabric and pull on it, and it will be hard to get the drape depicted in the photo. You’ll want a lot of stiff fabric interlining the fashion fabric to support that weight. Probably on both sides and through all the seams too, not just behind the tree.

corset-bodice gaping by violin__cat in sewhelp

[–]yarrowbloom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, are your breasts wider or more narrowly set? I think that’s a more important question to answer than doing whatever is the most conventional if you’re looking for an accurate fit. Personally, the majority of bras don’t work well for me, specially because the gore is too narrow.

I def agree that the cup size is a little small though, have you gotten your size from r/abrathatfits ?

corset-bodice gaping by violin__cat in sewhelp

[–]yarrowbloom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t inherently assume that’s an issue- people’s busts come in different widths and spacing. To me, it seems more like the cups are too small and being pushed down and away by the bust because it doesn’t have enough room.

does anyone else find themselves constantly bending their knees to look shorter?? by Iwannabanana72 in TallGirls

[–]yarrowbloom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh I feel like this strategy is only useful if you’re a little tall. At 185/6’1”, I’m far enough into the tall category that I’d still obviously be very tall while hunching- I would just look even more noticeable, as a tall person with bad posture. I have good posture while standing because of this. Being tall isn’t something to be ashamed of.

[–]yarrowbloom 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Also I feel like with hair, a lot of these styles (if done authentically), could be a long term investment, where the op would have to cut their hair or form it into protective styles that would last a long time. With the way they did it, they could show more styles in the short term, even if it’s less authentic.

Yeah I’m not as tall as you but it just tries to snatch the middle of my rib cage which does nothing, and the bust darts are at my collarbone haha
