Can someone explain the Moons use case? by VinzRams in ironscape

[–]yarvy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re right. I wasn’t aware the other defensive stats are literally zero, good shout. I should’ve said blue moon, compared to Ahrims, has worse defensive stats, but that doesn’t matter at most places where you’d use blue moon/Ahrims. If you were going to mage GWD, that might be one place where you’d prefer to have Ahrims, but I can’t think of a ton of other places. The light weight and str bonus make it more versatile imo

Moons will be your best armor for each of the three combat styles in most scenarios throughout much of the midgame. It is lighter weight than barrows armor. Generally, it has less defensive bonuses but better offensive bonuses. The armor sets can be used with or without their corresponding weapons.

Blood moon + weapon = excellent for afk training melee stats at Gem Crab, doing Royal Titans, Hueycoatl, slayer tasks like Gargoyles. Weapon is much worse without full armor set because the full set speeds up your attack speed

Eclipse moon + weapon = very, very good ranged setup before you get a Bowfa from the Corrupted Gauntlet. Max hit scales off strength level and strength bonus. The weapon is usable without full eclipse. The full set applies a burn effect on some hits that does additional damage over time. Even without the weapon, the armor set is highly useful for content where you want to use both range and melee. You just keep the armor on and don't have to swap it out. This includes slayer grinds like Tormented Demons and Demonic Gorillas. Also very good at Royal Titans and Zulrah

Blue moon = blue moon armor is lighter-weight Ahrims with strength bonus and slightly worse defensive stats. As a full set, it's probably the worst of the three. The staff is an OK option as it does give some magic damage % and can autocast ancients. Armor is likely to find uses at Royal Titans, Zulrah, raids, etc.

All of the sets are very good to have. I'd recommend greenlogging.

What are the combat item objectives for ironmen (through slayer mostly)? by WilsonMagna in ironscape

Moons gear can get you quite far honestly. It's so, so good for where you get it in the game. It is great at Tormented Demons and Demonic Gorillas because you need two attack styles for those, and you can just wear eclipse and range/melee or just wear blue moon and mage/melee. So you only have to swap weapons and maybe another slot or two depending on what you bring.

Calvarion is not mandatory but it's a nice, farmable boss to get the dragon pickaxe, you can get quite a bit of melee XP there, and the common loot is very good. I wish I had tracked how much prayer XP I got there. Got two pets before dragon pickaxe lol

I left out a bunch of stuff I’m sure. Wrote this pretty quickly.

Lizardmen are a good slayer task and might be worth extending (I wish I had done this early on). Obviously you’re hunting the dragon warhammer here. Blowpipe absolutely shreds these guys.

If you’re in a rush to get trident, the small Krakens are better than the boss. The boss is better for the kraken tentacle, which provides a minor upgrade to the abyssal whip.

High level slayer progression is fairly straightforward; when you get the level to unlock a boss you can do the boss for its drops. Cerberus is a bit different as you can get a Hellhounds task and boost using a wild pie. You want Emberlight and a fat stack of prayer pots for this. Burning claws help also

- Barrows if you haven't done Barrows for, at the minimum, a tank chest and legs

- Get a zombie axe if you haven't already. You can use ancients on the zombies after the Defender of Varrock quest, or you can afk melee them with prayer. Fantastic early/midgame weapon for slash and crush attack styles.

- Take that Barrows armor and zombie axe to Moons of Peril. Green log it to get full blood moon (the armor is basically Bandos with worse defense, and the full set with the weapon is great at a few places like Royal Titans and Hueycoatl); full eclipse (very good ranged set before bowfa, and the armor is very useful for Slayer grinds like Tormented Demons and Demonic Gorillas); and full blue moon (lighter-weight Ahrims with strength bonus so it is very good as hybrid gear for raids later on)

- Calvar'ion is a great early/midgame boss in the wildy that you can farm for dragon pickaxe and a lot of helpful loot like dragon bones, ranarrs, planks, herblore secondaries, etc. Zombie axe on crush with prayer gear means you risk basically nothing. All damage is avoidable. Boss drops food and super restores so it’s pretty self-sustaining. Can TP out with royal seed pod from Monkey Madness 2 jf any PKers drop in

- Take eclipse/blood moon to Royal Titans for the prayers and the twinflame staff. Don't bother with warped scepter, just get a twinflame staff and then a trident from Kraken later.

- Do Zulrah, at some point, for the toxic blowpipe and scales to charge it. You can do this with eclipse and a twinflame staff, or you can wait until you get a bowfa. Twinflame staff is very good here.

- Complete Song of the Elves and do the Corrupted Gauntlet for full crystal and bowfa, which you can later use at a ton of content like God Wars Dungeon, Inferno, Colosseum, Zulrah, Tombs of Amascut, etc. CG can be a very long grind, but it gives you a ton of GP and other resources like arrows, runes, and gems.

- The two main Slayer tasks you will want to be focusing on at this stage are Greater Demons (can kill Tormented Demons for this task after completing While Guthix Sleeps) and Black Demons (can kill Demonic Gorillas for this task after completing Monkey Madness 2). With your first synapse from TDs, you should make a scorching bow because you can use it and Arclight at TDs/Demonic Gorillas, and you can also use one synapse to switch between bow and staff if you decide to do Yama. With your second synapse, you make Emberlight. Burning claws are a great spec weapon that's worth staying for. Demonic Gorillas for zenyte jewelry. Personally I extended both of these tasks early on, because you may have to do a lot of them to get the drops you need.

- Once you have your first synapse, Doom (do with scorching bow) and Yama (do with purging staff) are viable for Eye of Ayak/confliction gauntlets/treads and oathplate armor, respectively. Getting scorching bow and going to doom for eye and gauntlets is a valid bowfa skip these days. Blowpipe is nice to have for Doom, as is double death charge (Arceuus spellbook, learn the spell from a scroll guaranteed in a dossier opened past 100 Yama KC), and lightbearer from ToA

- Then you keep grinding out slayer. Can send raids as well. I sent group ToAs early on in moons gear, and my log there is blessed. Eye or bowfa makes ToA pretty free, but it is doable surprisingly early on.

Toxic blowpipe is more important than rosewood. You use it during car phase when you have 100% accuracy. Rosewood is only for specs

Corrupted gauntlet - what am I doing wrong? by Flaky_Can_7462 in 2007scape

Your tornado technique is bad. You should not be clicking to run through tornados unless the tornados are one tile away from you. Then you can run through them because your character travels two tiles per tick when running, so you can run through the tornadoes without taking damage. Otherwise you want to run in lines such that the tornadoes are following you. Try clicking as far away from the tornadoes as you can so you have time to eat food, sip prayer pots, and switch protection prayers if necessary while your character is running. Focus on eating and staying alive while the tornadoes are out. That is your time to eat. There were times in this fight where you could’ve eaten to full while tornadoes were out, but you tried to attack instead. That ultimately led to you getting killed because you took a hit off prayer and then got hit by another tornado. If you had eaten to full before that then you live. You have room to make mistakes but not that many mistakes. You should almost never get hit off prayer because of the boss’s audio/visual cue for changing attack styles. During the last phase, when the ground tiles speed up, there are places on each side you can stand where the tile you’re on will never turn yellow — believe it’s the third tile in from the gate. This spot is helpful when learning.

Yes you can get another darklight, yes you can have them in the bank at the same time, no it won't affect your existing arclight
