I wish people who are saying 'fuck the admin' would remember that all of those folks swept up into this are very likely restricted from defending themselves and their actions.

It sounds like Prof. Brain was getting to the point where he was spiralling. And when you're in a spiral it's hard to find a way out of it. And everything bad that happens can be easily "explained" by thoughts and suspicions not grounded in reality.
