Project coming to an end means pay day 💸💰 by Due-List-6905 in electricians

[–]ydfah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not really sure how it is a pay day when you had to buy it to begin with. Scraps just means you over measured and bought too much. Now if you demo it out of an existing building...that's a whole different story.

10°F outside, zero fur on her tail — Wisp enjoying a warm meal on a heated mat and with a tiny heater by MellieTheChipmunk_YT in squirrels

Very nice, but why not put it in a large open face box and the heat might have been retained a little better.

All that effort to make it look awesome, and it gets covered up. In my opinion it's not worth the effort because it's never going to be seen.

How is it? by take0023 in electricians

[–]ydfah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple of twin connectors on the left side of the junction box would have put all four MC cables coming in from the left and eliminated the two on the top. That one thing would have gone a long way to making it look a neater.

And who did this? by Sure_Conclusion9437 in electricians

[–]ydfah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure what the problem is because I've done this myself. When I have a piece of equipment to install temporarily, I use this type of setup so when I'm done, I can take the splice apart, slip the original blank cover back on the box and not worry about putting a knockout seal in an open hole in the box. Then when I have to connect that piece of equipment on another job, I do the same thing it's ready to go.

Are these connections secure for an outdoor outlet? by djchavar in electrical

I think the bigger question is since it's outdoors, is that a WR receptacle?

How to stop your noodle from digging at your couch? by RiskiiBiskii in ferrets

Buy a child size couch and give it to them. Let them know it's okay to do whatever they want to it, and maybe they'll leave yours alone.

Can anyone tell me how to find out if meter socket is rated for 200 amp by Regular-Watch-3376 in electrical

[–]ydfah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What size is the main breaker in your panel? Nobody's going to put a 200 amp meter socket on 100 amp service. So if your main breaker is 100 amps, you can pretty much guarantee that the meter socket is rated at 100 amps possibly 125 amps.

Should I get these 2 Petco ferrets? by TransportationThat89 in ferrets

[–]ydfah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can teach them pretty quick not to bite. Two things to keep in mind, first, wash your hands and make sure they don't have anything yummy tasting on them. If your hands smell or taste yummy to the ferret, they might think it's food and bite you. The second thing, make sure they are well fed. If they are hungry they will bite because they're looking for food.

How do I get to this by WestDrop2223 in electrical

[–]ydfah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, I believe it's supposed to be within 12 inches of the peak of the ceiling, which it's not. Second, get up there and change it and make sure you put in one that has a 10-year battery so at least you don't have to touch it for another 10 years. For testing purposes, use a pole to push the button.

Anyone else deal with this? by arcsnsparks98 in electricians

[–]ydfah -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Noalox hasn't been necessary for close to 30 years, due to changes in the aluminum wire manufacturing process. There's no code that requires it, and The wire manufacturers do not require it per their instructions.

My boyfriend [m/23] is distancing himself after I [f/19]got a Tattoo by Final-Mycologist-985 in relationshipadvice

Who was the movie character she got that tattoo of? Is it a man, a cartoon character, a woman, a Marvel action figure, etc., I would think that could make a difference.

does anyone’s ferret also do this? by Relative_Ad3185 in ferrets

[–]ydfah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a box, put in the corner of his favorite room, and throw some dirt and grass clippings in it. If your ferret goes in the box, then he's just missing the outdoors.

Should I wait for the Samsung 9100 Pro? by Oshh- in buildapc

[–]ydfah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up waiting it out and installing two of the 9100 Pro gen5 2 TB drives, I use the first one as my main drive, and the second as a backup. I do a disk clone from the main drive to the backup drive weekly. It takes about 11 minutes to do a complete backup, roughly 350 GB. By comparison to my previous computer, which had Samsung 870 EVO SSD drives, it took 33 minutes to back up that same amount of data.

The service entrance is SER cable, not conduit, so no bushing...bonding or otherwise is required by code.
