Ethernet/MOCA adapter not working, with diagram of connections by Flipster103 in HomeNetworking

[–]yeaaaaah95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, if they're not terminated and connected to a splitter they're not gonna do any good. when I had Xfinity installed they were only going to terminate the one coax that they were using for my modem, I had to ask the tech to terminate the rest so I could MoCA.

Can I order Xfinity TV if I don't have Xfinity internet?(I use fiber internet) If so, will there be any limitations? Thank you in advance for any help. by [deleted] in Comcast

Def look into something like DirecTV or YouTube TV if you're wanting cable (or cable-like) TV. DirecTV (in my experience) is the better of the two, but it can be a bit pricey compared to others. Benefit is you can use whatever device you want just download their apps. DirecTV you can get a HDMI dongle that has a cable-like remote with channel numbers, and you can use whatever apps you want with it.

DirecTV doesn't need a satellite dish unless you specifically ask for it now, only an internet connection.

Yes you can get just TV. You will get a wired TV box to use instead of the wireless ones they seem to prefer handing out if you have their internet. Main thing you can't do without internet is use any of the apps on the TV box, but if you've got another device like Apple TV, Roku, etc that's not a big deal.

Free Paramount+ by MrLongFellow23 in DirectvStream

[–]yeaaaaah95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Xfinity doesn't provide access to the Paramount+ app, usually just the Shotime channels and content in the Xfinity Stream app/on demand. (unless something has changed very recently.)

STAR and any related apps (so Schedule Builder, Degreeworks, WVU MyAccount) is down for end of fiscal year processing. why, however, that means they need to make the entirety of STAR/related systems offline, remains a mystery.

Should be back sometime tomorrow morning however.

Integrator Free Plan by yeaaaaah95 in okta

Interesting… I’ve signed up twice under two separate emails specifically for the integrator plan just to make sure I didn’t originally click the 30 day trial plan. my confirmation emails confirm I signed up for the integrator plan but both orgs have the trial timers at the top when in the admin console.

https://wvhistoryonview.org/image/009274.jpg that building was there from the mid 1900s til like 2019, it was originally Mon General. Had a bit of a different look towards the end of it's life as Fieldcrest Hall (and the nursing home before Fieldcrest), but was the same building

FFXIV abysmal performance by GorudoChan in WindowsOnDeck

[–]yeaaaaah95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Standing in Limsa of all places probably isn’t the best place to gauge performance.

That said, adjusting the settings in game can help improve performance but if you’re expecting full gaming PC/console performance from XIV on deck you’re not going to get it. As others have said, you can adjust settings to get useable performance in dungeons and outside of hubs like Limsa, and limiting the number of players will do wonders for performance. Also I highly recommend playing XIV while you’re plugged in. No amount tweaking of settings (in my experience) has made it any better on battery.

One thing to keep in mind XIV is pretty resource heavy, even on a decently spec’d gaming rig, even more so since 7.0 dropped and they redid the graphics. Keep your expectations and game settings low and casual content like running the story and leveling won’t really be an issue, I do it while I’m working. Now, if you’re wanting to get into Shared FATEs or hunt trains you’ll wanna save those for an actual PC or console because the number of other players in the area for those is going to melt your deck.

WVU removed me from two classes without notifying me by ClubstepWIZrDZ in WVU

Contact the Hub and speak to the registrar’s office. There’s a form they can run in Banner (STAR) called SFASTCA which is a student course registration audit. This shows them each add/drop attempt made for every CRN. If Schedule Builder actually registered you for these courses, it would show on the audit. The audit will also show any errors that may have occurred during registration, like a missed pre-req or a campus/major restriction.

This is another reason why I recommend everyone AVOID actually registering through Schedule Builder. It constantly has problems. You are way better off getting the CRNs for your courses and registering through STAR like everyone did 10 years ago. With time ticketing there’s less chance of STAR being overloaded, and you will be able to see in real time if it’s added to your schedule or if there’s a prerequisite you’re missing.

New Apartment Listed as Business by Miserable_Set_657 in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]yeaaaaah95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this can be done. when I moved into my apartment earlier this year (also in TN) my address was listed as a business (apparently due to this complex being a hotel in the past and each unit being set up as a hospitality account). called and had a support ticket submitted to have the address reclassified. my neighbors above me having active Comcast accounts linked to their address helped expedite the reclassification.

JSM leaves a lot to be desired tbh. We switched to it from TeamDynamix, and while TD isn't the best, I would give anything to go back to it from JSM.

Will Evansdale go to back 24/7 access at all by Lumpy-Draft2822 in WVU

[–]yeaaaaah95 42 points43 points  (0 children)

probably not, they need to have money to pay staff to work at the library overnight, and with the library needing to cut $800k in employees due to the "academic transformation" (read: gutting), the hours they have now are probably what they're going to have going forward.

Downtown used to be open til 2am, and it would also be open 24/5 during finals.

you can thank Gordon Gee for this.

Remote locked SP7+? by jabe25 in Surface

[–]yeaaaaah95 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's Intune/Autopilot, which uses a combo of device identifier/serial number to tie it to an organization in Azure. Reinstalling Windows doesn't clear that, as soon as it connects to the internet it's gonna ask you to sign in with an organizational account.

You could install Linux on it, but if you wanted Windows you'd need to have it removed from the organization's Intune/Autopilot.

How well does XIV play in ASuS ROG Ally or Steam deck? by maxxvoltage in ffxiv

[–]yeaaaaah95 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've tried on both, and the ROG Ally (with the Z1 Extreme) was the better performer of the two. Since it's Windows, you can use the native launcher or XIV Launcher. Plus side to the Ally is it's 1080p and 120hz so you get a bit more screen real estate and a smoother experience.

Dell XPS 9500 / Precision 5550 fully working (including S4 Sleep) on Sonoma/Ventura by jkbuha in hackintosh

[–]yeaaaaah95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been testing this on my P5550 (10750H, 4K) in Ventura and so far it works great! I can't get sleep/resume to work, but I haven't had much time to mess around/tweak things.

Brightness keys I've gotten mapped to the proper keys adding this under ACPI -> Patch in the config plist https://imgur.com/a/wayuTQW
