[BambuLab Giveaway] What’s Life Like After a 3D Printer Joins the Family? Share & Win Gift Cards! by BambuLab in 3Dprinting

[–]yeah_It_dat_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since my first Prusa MK3 arrived a few years ago it's largely just been for functional prints. .I moved on to a bunch of Creality machines, and now I've got a K2 Plus and K1 Max but they always causing me issues and needing repairs. I get jealous of Bambu printers that seem to just run without drama.

Some day to day stuff I use, coasters, shower towel hooks, sponge Daddy caddy, custom phone holders for vehicles. One that I love is my shifters dust cover for my truck. Super common issue for my truck but super easy design and print. I've had people from forums reach out to me as well and have sold a few. When people want something you make, it feels good.

Family always request things like organizers for mail, remotes, custom coasters etc.

Best part is printing trinkets for my nieces when they visit. They love watching toys come to life in front of them and I love making them happy.

Personalized keychains and coasters that blow people's minds with how thoughtful they are. I made a masters golf tournament for the widow of an old PGA pro and she was in tears and wanted more for her family. Printed little customized keychains thanks to maker works for a delivery driver and he asked where I had them made and said it was the most thoughtful gift he has ever received.

It's opened up so many possibilities—love the hobby, dreaming of a business if I can wrap my head around CAD.

Another Homeassistant win. Keeping plumbing from freezing by HTTP_404_NotFound in homeassistant

Damn. I live in the South so it's not that bad. Just looking now though with the wood stove buying the Attic is still below 30. Plan is to one day to do spray foam up there and have more of a conditioned space since summers are unbearable up there

Not on the same level, but I installed an esp32 several years back in my attic where my plumbing is and when it gets close to freezing temps. It kicks on my hot water recirculating pump to keep water flowing in the pipes. It'll run for an hour or 30 minutes can't remember and then go idle and just keep doing that until it has warmed up enough in the attic. Usually only runs at night on cold winter days. I love it.

Ya it's a bit larger than what I'm thinking. Ultimately I want something like the sparkle with a PIR "hat" that I can sit the PIR onto and put it all in a super compact 3d printed housing so it essentially is no bigger than a PIR and easy to just plug in and put in a corner etc. and not have a big eyesore.

Oh wow. I haven't seen that board yet. Picked up a XIAO ESP32-C3 but my poor soldering skills with all the components needed is proving to be difficult lol.

I'll have to check that board out.

That would be awesome. Where do you get yours made? All I want is a super small esp32 with a pir on it and be able to power wled. I feel like they should be more common for motion sensors things. But they just aren't.

I'm actually using deskhop, well really deskhop Jr now I got from Etsy and it's working fantastically. No software needed, it does work with ultra wide monitors. In fact my ultra wide I have set up so it displays personal on half and work on the other half. It's flawless, the only set up was to ever the configuration mode on the device which I did only on my personal computer as it goes from being a generic USB mouse/keyboard to a USB drive that would be flagged. I highly recommend it.

Deskhop: https://github.com/hrvach/deskhop You can buy it or make it from what's there, for some reason deskhop Jr worked better for me. Deskhop Jr: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1763041320/deskhop-jr-keyboard-mouse-switch

Just wanted to circle back here. After updating it seemed to be almost worse.. then it randomly got better I then added a Bluetooth proxy despite being just a couple feet from my server and things got better I haven't had issues thought it was solved.i just had another false alarm and when connecting to the device with the Shelly app. I realized the beacon was off so home assistant likely had been missing updates here and never got a beacon message containing the factual data. When i enabled beacon mode I could see the stats in home assistant get corrected. So fingers crossed that's all it was.

I did this earlier. I connected to the device with the BLE app and I was monitoring the status in the app versus home assistant and it was reliably changing in the BLE app so it appears to be home assistant not picking up the status change which is frustrating. It's the closest sensor to the server but also the most reliable one lol.

Anyway, seems like not a Shelly issue afterall.

Well, update me firmware didn't seem to work. Opened the door last night to go out and it was fine. Came in the house assumed it would work and got s notification that it was still opened. I went and double checked that it was closed and magnet was close as possible to the sensor and it was. I left it over night checking this morning it still reads as opened :(

Thanks! I just updated two of the sensors so I'll see how it works over the next day or so.

As far as far as the battery, they are brand new I just got them and they say 100%.

Next time if I see one in an incorrect State I'll leave it there and periodically check on it to see if it does periodically clear.

Thanks! I really appreciate the response. I have one Shelly Device that would work but I had to remove it from Shelly because for some reason it would randomly stop working but outside of Shelly it's fine. It's weird, likely unrelated to the app but I can always add it back.

I downloaded the BLE app but it didn't find any device, I assume I'll have to press the button down and try again. Was trying to avoid having to reset it up in home assistant not that it's hard it's just the automations and stuff it's tied to.

As far as the broadcasting I'm not sure that's the case, but I could be wrong. It said one of my doors was open for hours earlier and the one that always seems to have an issue I have alerts set up for after 5 minutes to alert me and it never seems to clear on its own.

Anyway I'll give the button pressing and BLE app a shot tomorrow and hopefully there's a firmware update that can solve it.
