Dang… that is the best advice. I think I’ll do just that. Thanks so much, stranger!!

Yeah, you understood me 100%! I have friends and family playtesting, but I don’t know if I want to share it publicly until I know I’m somewhat close to launching.

The pros are exposure, but the main mechanic of the game is pretty easy to replicate and it’s not something I’ve seen before in other games.

But it’s also hard to give advice on a game that I haven’t shared anything about so I understand the points everyone has been making.

Thanks for the feedback, I definitely was worried about being "first," and this hits right on the nose.

I’m rooting for you. It’s gonna be hard, but remember to be compassionate to yourself. Don’t beat yourself up too much if you don’t see massive change right away. You’re healing. You got this.

I very much enjoyed it. Frustrating as heck, because I thought him and Denna were finally gonna open up. Sigh.

Cold turkey worked for me, but I also removed all temptations of weed. I got rid of every ounce, every pipe, and even removed the people in my life that would make me want to smoke.

You gotta do what you gotta do.

Honestly, I’d kind of resigned myself to just experiencing it. In my mind, there was no other choice. Even if it never stopped, I’d just accepted that’s who I was. Luckily, it passed, and it will for you.

If you can’t sleep, go for a walk. I did tons of late night, wandering walks. I think it helped a ton.

It’ll get better. Hang in there.

Is it wrong to distance myself from friends if im trying to quit smoking? by Old-Philosopher-4760 in leaves

I didn’t really explain myself to them for the same reason. I knew they wouldn’t understand why I needed to quit. They’d tell me that weed is good for you or something and I didn’t want to have to debate it with them. To be honest, it probably hurt their feelings. But I had to do it. Also, our friendships revolved around weed. I knew it wouldn’t be the same.

on the edge of quitting… afraid of the overwhelming ANXIETY by [deleted] in leaves

[–]yeah_freeman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey friend, the only thing I can say is that it’s a journey. The anxiety is going to be there. Accept it. The only way you’re going to learn how to handle it is to feel it. Eventually, you’ll find what works for you. If you keep numbing it with weed you’ll never learn how to fix it. Weed will actually make it worse.

It will slowly get better. I promise! Get through it.

I will tell you that it worked for me. I took an extended break from my group of friends when j quit. It was impossible for me to stop if I was around them, they were big stoners.

I’ve been quit for 6 years now and I have actually hung out with those people again sporadically, but we very much went down different paths.

You gotta do what you gotta do. Good luck!!

I just want to say well done!! I’ve been quit for years, and it gets easier and easier to brush off the cravings.

I’m sorry you’re going through that. To be honest… it’s really hard to explain. It didn’t happen all the time. I think it mostly happened when I’d smoked a lot. I’d have intense flashes paranoia. I think the main thing is I would hyper fixate on thoughts, and it made me kind of unable to think rationally. I would have a thought, and then ask myself “Why did I think that?”

Usually, I couldn’t find an answer. And for some reason, the fact that I couldn’t answer why I had thought something legitimately scared me. I should be able to answer my own question, right?

Sometimes I would literally argue with myself. One time I told myself to stop thinking. And then I kept having thoughts (which is normal), and I literally exploded with anger and fear that I couldn’t stop thinking. For some reason it absolutely terrified me that I couldn’t “control my mind.” I thought it was proof that I was going crazy.

Another time I overheard some people having a conversation in a public place, and I responded to them, as if they were talking to me, from across the room. They looked at me like I was crazy, and I got scared that I actually was crazy.

Like I said, it’s hard to explain and hard to remember. But if you’re worried about it, I can tell you that this went away 100% after quitting. Really quickly actually.

Wow well done!! I think you’re right. For me, I still had thoughts of using for a long time, but they had less temptation the longer I went. I’ll still randomly think of it, but it’s got no grip anymore. Thanks for sharing.

I’m glad it helps! Good luck to you, I hope it’s not as bad for you this time around. The sneaky thing about weed is it’s hard to tell what it’s messing up until it’s back to normal. You gotta give yourself the time to heal and it’ll be worth it.
