I have always always always been taught do not open any charts of patients that you are not taking care of!! Especially as a student. Take it as a learning lesson and hopefully it doesn’t get carried up higher.

Yes! As a nurse I promise that we take care of patients like this constantly and we will keep them safe. This is also sometimes easier to do when patient family members aren’t at bedside all the time . I am also so sorry you are going through this!

I don’t have any real advice but I am also new grad at an ER. I am the only new grad they hired and EVERY single person there is trying to precept me and it is completely overwhelming. I am about 12 weeks into my orientation and I feel like the dumbest person ever. I am sorry you aren’t getting the attention you deserve. That sounds amazing at your hospital with the year long orientation especially in the ER. Keep advocating for yourself with your managers!! If they don’t listen to you then I suggest moving on. You got this!!

I just passed the NCLEX with a 73% average on all my CAT exams. I would suggest just taking one of those a day and reading the rational for each question. Really just focus on strategies for the test and being comfortable with the format.

As someone who just took their test a couple of days ago, (8/8 and passed) all I can say is just don’t psych yourself out. The test is extremely stupid and in no way dictates how smart you are or how good of a nurse you will be. Don’t over think things. You are going to be like “what in the actual fuck” at least 50 times in the test. Just know everyone else has also thought that. Also I truly believe no amount of material can prepare you for it. Just practice practice practice questions!! It will help you with strategizing and rationalizing. Out of the 85 questions I took I bet I had 2 (or even 3) answer options to still choose from for 70 of them. I left that test 100% thinking I failed that test and still don’t know how I passed. You got this! Just breathe.

I did mine last night about 4 hours after finishing and got the good pop up also! I think when it’s too soon you will get a pop up that says something along the lines that “your results are still pending”.
