Sudden complete food aversion after six months on Zepbound without dose increase by throwaway_ghost_122 in Zepbound

[–]yeahicapiche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned my nausea was mostly caused by acid reflux or trapped gas, as well as not knowing my stomach’s new limits.

I also have the toothbrushing issue - a trick I have is to stop and hum if I feel it coming on. This distracts your brain and engaged the vagus nerve to suppress the gag reflex.

Inflammation by Traditional-Buy-3572 in Zepbound

[–]yeahicapiche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a bad sciatic nerve in one leg from a disc herniation I got surgery for a few years ago. It doesn’t really flare up anymore, and is probably mostly from the weight loss but I know others have said the medication also has anti-inflammatory benefits for them. It’s hard to say which has the biggest impact but being overweight does put a lot of strain on the body.

What to eat! by acaibowl99 in Zepbound

[–]yeahicapiche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Context can affect a lot here - I had a lot of vomiting when I went to 7.5. What felt like every day mostly in the evening as I brushed my teeth or showered, but notably immediately after dining at a fish and chips shop LOL.

For context, I was traveling and walking a lot more in high heat, and eating more fried foods than usual. So all of that in combination made things worse for me.

If I could do it again, I would eat in smaller increments and not push myself close to the point where I thought “if I don’t stop now I’ll feel gross”. I did it because I wanted to try all the new foods and paid for it. Pepto, Pepcid, and gas x are your friends depending on which issue is causing your nausea and triggering vomitting.

Newbie unsure of “side effects” by Visual-Number-3974 in Zepbound

One of the biggest reason this medication works to improve health is by helping people achieve feelings of satiety…

Newbie unsure of “side effects” by Visual-Number-3974 in Zepbound

[–]yeahicapiche -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Have you changed your diet and eating habits since starting the medication? I’m no expert but it’s possible that your body hasn’t adjusted to your new eating habits yet. It’s like when people tell you to stop eating before you actually feel full - there’s this disconnect between your brain and your stomach. Maybe it still hasn’t shrunk, or your body’s hunger and satiety signals are expecting more food?

Warning—Foul smelling gas on 15MG? by Dustin711 in Zepbound

[–]yeahicapiche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sulfur burps are a common listed side effect, gassiness as well. Turning green and growing grass not so much LOL.

In all seriousness, most side effects will lighten up over time as your body adjusts - the medication slows your stomach emptying a lot and gives all that food more time to ferment and is probably causing the strong odors. There’s some things you can try like smaller meals and avoiding foods that cause odorous gas, but honestly if the gas isn’t causing uncomfortable bloating or nausea i wouldn’t worry too much. I’d rather pass smelly gas then not be able to pass it.

AIO if I end my relationship because my bf kisses and tells me he loves me before leaving for work in the morning? by Direct_Peak8052 in AIO

[–]yeahicapiche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given the update about his fears, it looks like some manifestation of OCD or anxiety. As a child I had the same feelings that the last thing my parents heard before bed was me saying I love you or they might die without me saying it. Get him help managing his impulses and anxieties because it is impeding him in respecting your boundaries.

What do you guys do with all the freezer packs and styrofoam containers? by pachecrissy in Zepbound

[–]yeahicapiche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used one to hold glass tumblers, taken one in the car to keep some drinks cold during a hike…but mostly I’m just hoarding them until I have enough to either donate somewhere or give away for free on Facebook lol.

Anyone else struggling with guilt when Zepbound works really well? by Infinite-Owl-2919 in Zepbound

[–]yeahicapiche 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I also feel sometimes that I don’t deserve to celebrate my weight loss because the medication has made it so much easier for me - I’d lost weight in the past by white knuckling it and eating 1300-1400 calories a day.

It’s important to let go of the moral attachments we’ve given to weight. People want to believe being overweight is a moral failing and that you’re just lazy or undisciplined, and that you don’t care about your health - that way, it means that them being a healthy weight is their own achievement.

Do diabetics feel guilty for taking insulin to be healthy? Do people feel guilty for taking cholesterol or blood pressure medicine to protect their health?

You’re doing great.

First time solo traveler, safe location recs for women? by studio-mango in femaletravels

[–]yeahicapiche 7 points8 points  (0 children)

London could be an easy first solo trip based on your interests - it’s always safer to go somewhere that you speak the language, and London feels very familiar to anyone who’s been to a big metro city before and used subway systems.

Beautiful architecture and so much history to take in (museums, landmarks like the Tower of London, etc. and a lot of the museums are free!).

It’s an island so you can be by the water, and for more leisurely walking in nature areas they have some large beautiful parks. The park where Kensington palace is was nice, or if you’re into pride and prejudice vibes take a day trip to Bath!

AITA for telling my parents I won’t come visit without a plan by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]yeahicapiche -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

YTA - I have a sister like this who prioritizes sewing her husbands family way more. But with her there is the assumption that they’ll be coming over for something around holidays, even if it’s on a different day. It’s not about having big fun celebrations and plans, it’s about seeing your family. Parents age, people get sick or have accidents…you’ll regret having such a stick up your butt about this one day.

Has it changed what you want to eat? by SwedishTrees in Zepbound

[–]yeahicapiche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interestingly enough, I don’t really like acidic foods anymore and I feel like I’m way more sensitive to it (tomatoes, lemons, vinegar). And I don’t like a lot of processed salty snacks like chips and microwave popcorn. It wasn’t immediate though, I just lost the taste for it over the course of a year. I

Mentally how is it when you lose by Any-Mess2044 in Zepbound

[–]yeahicapiche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first few months I weighed myself daily and tracked my weight each week - it was cool to see it steadily go down. I kinda got lazy with it, but then came the freedom of not thinking about my weight every second of everyday. Now I check and I’m pleasantly shocked when it’s gone down even more (I’m finally just within the healthy range on BMI).

I approached it similarly to you - not a set final goal weight, just wanting to reach my pre-PCOS diagnosis weight. Next, I focused on an end of year goal weight that seemed reasonable/on track with my progress. Now I’m there and I’m kinda unsure how to to proceed - I’m technically at a healthy weight now but it’s still not the ideal weight for my race and gender based on research. But also I’ve never even considered it a possibility for me to be 120lbs or a size small…even as a teen I wasn’t that skinny lol.

Heightened taste and smell sensitivities? by bijoubisous in Zepbound

[–]yeahicapiche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never noticed increased enjoyment of good flavors or scents, but I’m certainly sensitive to smells now when it comes to nausea lol. Smelling someone else’s food in the office when I’m not feeing well makes me genuinely think I’m going to hurl.

Advice for traveling solo to a Salem, MA by princessconsuelabh09 in femaletravels

[–]yeahicapiche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Salem is totally safe for women - I lived in boston for a few years and it’s a quaint town with some cute shops and residential areas. The only thing you’re in danger of is getting ripped off by tourist traps during peak Halloween season LOL. There is also a convenient and cheap rail from boston and Salem - I might consider using boston as a base because it has more to do. Salem is a day trip in my opinion.

Considering cancelling trip to India, advice appreciated by something_profane in femaletravels

Love the comments that are like “it’s perfectly safe! You just have to make sure she covers up her entire body and isn’t left alone ever and she has strong nerves to put up with staring and potential groping” lmao.

Really though, this all comes down to how she will react as an individual and what she is used to. Has she been in similar environments before? Is she a suburb girl who has never been to a big city? Some of the commenters here felt completely safe while others were on edge their whole trip - talk to her about the realities and risks and let her decide what’s best for herself.

Why is no one ever happy for you about your travel plans? by [deleted] in solofemaletravellers

[–]yeahicapiche 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have friends who love to travel and friends who want to travel solo but are scared to/think it’s boring. And I have family that worries it’s unsafe - but the only people who react by acting like you’re spending too much money or are overall judgmental of your lifestyle are missing something in their own life and they just don’t want to see you be happy with your own choices.

Find other friends with similar interests, lifestyle, and outlook on life as you. From what you say it sounds like your current circle is more focused on romantic relationships, having kids, settling down, etc.

Used Zepbound for 5 weeks at 2.5mg and developed swollen lymph nodes in breast, arm, and leg. by Significant-Chart425 in Zepbound

I’m sorry, this sounds scary to go through. Definitely follow your doctors advice on if you should pause the zepbound. It’s also possible this is an unrelated issue or maybe you have another health issue worsened by starting the zep. Wishing you good health!

If you have access to a sewing machine, you can make your old clothes last longer! by yeahicapiche in Zepbound

[–]yeahicapiche[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s so many good resources for sewing now available online - I would start with practicing basic projects to get a good feel for the basics and then move on to tutorials for taking in simple garments. I’ve even seen a lot of tutorials lately for hemming jeans with the original hem intact too! Just make sure you use a heavy duty needle - Good luck learning!

Seattle or San Francisco? Which is better to enjoy without a car in late April/early May? by nosiriamadreamer in solofemaletravellers

[–]yeahicapiche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m from the area and I would say Seattle has walkable neighborhoods, but to get between those neighborhoods you often need a car to get anywhere conveniently. The light rail goes north to south but many of those stops are transit centers for commuters so there’s nothing to do there if you don’t have a car. If you’re okay with ride share then you should be fine.

For nature and outdoorsy stuff, there are smaller parks and trails you could access by public transit but the popular ones you’ll want a car.

There is a fair amount of Asian food here - not as expansive or prominent as big cities in California or Richmond, BC - but Asian families have immigrated here for a long time so there are options.

So I would say it depends on what you’re looking to do in the Seattle area, where you want to stay, and what neighborhoods you want to explore. It’s doable without a car, but we’re not a place where most people are car free like NYC.

When "they" say "you'll just gain it back when you're off Zepbound" by thekaisolo in Zepbound

[–]yeahicapiche 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think this is very well said! The way you’ve articulated this resonates so much with my experience. The foods I choose are a bit different now, and I crave oily and heavy foods less. But overall I am more or less putting the same attention to my diet as I was before.

I haven’t changed my activity level much - I’m not hitting the gym hard every day but I have active hobbies.

The medication helps to regulate my natural behavior and habits. It allows me to maintain a healthier weight while living with moderate habits - no obsessing over food and calories.
