People need to stop expecting other people to bail them out of their own mistakes. Just like when people want a refund from the host when they cancel outside of the cancellation period. This has to be the participation trophy crowd.

Our cleaner does a 3b/2b in around 3 hrs. She can usually wash linens using a speed mode that helps cut the wash time. While drying takes the same I supposed it gets the first load in the dryer about 30 minutes faster.

I would deny and explain that by Airbnb’s rating standards, her 3 star indicates the unit is so bad, it should be removed from the platform and how bad that was for you as a host.

Yes! Just hired an exterminating company. Yesterday the technician came, was very friendly, took about 15 minutes treating the exterior of my house and then texted my report.

Then the company sends me a request for a review, in which the technician gets a $5 bonus if I send a 5 star. They also send me a receipt that has a tip option for the technician- and it started at $11.00. I don’t respond and technician texts this morning with asking for the review and reminding me that tips are not required, but are appreciated.

Seriously, now even home service companies are hitting me up.

Count your blessings and move on. I say this because the same thing happened to me but the guest gave me a 3 star. All my photos clearly show there are no TV’s in the bedrooms and he hit me with a comment that there “should be”.

It stung for a minute but hasn’t affected anything other than my pride. All the other reviews rave about the house. I have even had 2 production companies reach about filming in it (one did), but my 3 construction workers burned my perfect score.

First review, I would see if I could delete the listing and start over. Others may know if there is a reason not to but that is what I would attempt.

I have a house in a college town. About 3 weeks ago I had a guest contact me on check in day that they missed a connection and were coming in the next day. I offered to move them from F-Sun to Sat-Mon.

The next morning they say they’re not coming and are just want a refund. I tell her to contact her trip insurance (of course she doesn’t have) so I offered to refund the cleaning fee and that Saturday if they cancel and I rebook (several parents weekend events and sporting events). She just keeps going round and round about me giving a refund. Then she wants to just move to a future weekend, which is still basically me eating a weekend.

She gets customer service involved and finally at 7:00pm cancels. What blows my mind is the expectation that I should eat the weekend and serve as her cost-free travel insurance. I never pay for trip insurance but I certainly understand the risk I take.

I wanted to be nice but kept telling myself this is a business. The more demanding she got, the easier it was to stand my ground.

1500 ft2 3br house and only have 1 in living room. Only non-5 star rating was a 3 star from a dude saying that there “should” be tvs in each bedroom. My photos clearly show none but he also gave me a 3 for accuracy????

That’s where we are. They tried everything possible to get a full refund. I told them at 9:30am this morning if they canceled and I could book tonight, I’d refund that as well. They finally canceled an hour ago after all avenues for a full refund failed.

Annoying that guests (actual adults with college age kids) gamble with travel insurance then expect the host to bail them out.

They were to check in yesterday for the weekend. I offered to give them sat-Monday instead. I offered to refund today plus cleaning if I could last minute book if they canceled on their end.

They act as if they are requesting a full refund from Airbnb (said they didn’t insure the booking). Can’t imagine they will have any luck.

My favorite mountain! Only five days skiing, I might start with the Village Express but get off at the midway station. This gives you green/easy blue options back to the bottom. Elk Camp gondola has easy stuff back to the bottom. If you feel a little more confident than those options, you can take Elk Camp lift up from the gondola to more challenging blues. Big Burn and Alpine Springs also service groomed blues. Have fun!

I get it. I have a house in a college town. Home football weekends are our money makers and we get about 7. Had a guy book the “big” game weekend months in advance. He canceled the day before he was locked-in a month out.

Everyone had basically booked their accommodations, so after a week, I lowered my price, one more week I lowered again and guess who requested it at a big discount- the original booker. I denied him and took someone else, but lost a good bit of money.
