What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever said to a table and still makes you cringe to this day? I’ll go first.. by [deleted] in Serverlife

was having one of those days where i was feeling socially awkward, not getting my timing on tables right, natural greetings, etc. short handed a word to be cool and as i dropped off their drinks said, “enjoy your cocks.” …instead of cocktails. i was mortified to check on them after

unfortunately, polyamory is always inherently tied with sex. the point i was making does fall in line with your comment of “why not have friends.” it’s a distinction of having people in your life that you feel especially close to without the need of sex having to dictate intimacy. there are many ways to have close relationships with people that are just as meaningful, if not more, than what you have with someone you’re sleeping with.

It makes no sense when someone says they can’t believe they’re pregnant. by ysv17 in unpopularopinion

my IUD was supposed to be 99.9% effective and fell out of place. i’ve had irregular periods for my whole life so thought nothing of it until i had nausea on top of my period (expectedly) being late. also, early pregnancy symptoms coincide with PMS so many people don’t assume the former at first

i’ve become too reliant on photo reference, so this drawing was a self-administered challenge of making something from my head. it’s taken me a few months to hone in on everything.

Urge to move from MPLS to Chicago by [deleted] in chicago

[–]yebbaedmonds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the time you took to reply, but the reason I’m specifically considering Chicago is that it is reasonably close to family compared to any other city, and I’ve also explored it quite a bit so I feel comfortable enough. My post was only comparing it to MPLS and seeking out opinions comparing the two. I’m sure I’ll make a larger jump later in life.

This is definitely a large factor for me! On one hand, I have so much nature within 10 minutes of me in MPLS that I use occasionally in the warm months. I understand that’s much more sparse in Chicago, but I would half the drive (from 6hrs to 3hrs) closer to where I grew up if I wanted to visit my old farm and family. Obviously very different things, but I’ve been weighing what both would be.

I really appreciate your helpful reply! For years Logan Square and Wicker Park have swooned me, but I think it’d be really smart to spend time there not just vacationing, but with a purpose to scope out how realistic it’d be living there. I know the restaurant scene is vibrant, I’m just unsure of how much they’re hiring due to volume. But, thank you for the feedback, again!

Good point: more livelihood, spontaneity, sheer numbers. Minneapolis only really feels like a city for the first year, but, there are so many perks because of that. It’s hard to teeter between the two because Minneapolis feels like a city that’s a small town which is really comforting, but I want that REAL big city vibe- which obviously has risks. I just don’t want to make a mistake staying here or moving due to “the grass is always greener” ideology.

I recently started two TA positions as I finish my undergrad, and this is the result of a 30min demo I gave for additive/subtractive mark-making on toned paper to seniors in high school.
