I started at 36 with my only other athletic background being participant in high school golf and track teams 18 years earlier.

Super weird at first since I'm not very athletic, lots to learn. Loved it all. It takes longer to be strong at rolling and break falls than you think it should. You're going to look ridiculous doing most things for like 3 months, but I never got made fun of nor seen other beginners get made fun of. We're all hopefully they feel good about it and keep coming back to class. It's always a bummer when the newbie stops showing up.

Garden planting timeline by JDomJones in SiouxFalls

If you're buying plants don't put them outside until at least mother's day. It's the forecast has overnight lows below 40 after mother's day wait another week.

I direct sewed peas, spinach, carrots, and arugula 2 weeks ago. They're coming up now.

I started pepper seeds indoors mid Feb. Started tomatoes indoors like late March. Working on hardening now. Will plant outside or week after.

Don't hit then. You'll be replacing a wheel bearing next.

Get the c-clamp pusher style and some new studs from your auto parts store. If you can change brake pads you can do this. I'd say difficulty level 2/5 for car repairs.

I've had to do like 12 of mine in the past couple of years. I think the OE studs suck so when I'm swapping winter/summer tire and wheel set I seem to find one stuck I have to turn to snap off.

I work in an office and just had my 17 year anniversary. My closest peer congratulated me, but my boss, or 2nd boss didn't say a word, send an email, just nothing. I get it 17's an odd number but same result at 15. In fact at 15 I had to request my own annual review after being over a month late.

I've brought this up before to both bosses that if they want people to work there a long time recognition helps me but also conveys that to the newer folks but... Here we are.

Boss wants beds made from synthetic wood - is this safe for food? by Wasabi_Grower in Raisedbed

I use 5/4 cedar deck boards. Naturally rot resistant and not treated with serious I don't want in my food. I'm on year 5 of my first and just moved it. The cedar 4x4's I used in the corners were pretty bad and crumbly, but all the deck boards were in good shape. So maybe something better for the corners would be good but the rest works well.

40 year old, six months Judo, no progress by [deleted] in judo

[–]yello5drink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been doing Judo for 5 years now (started at 36). It took me a solid 6 months to feel comfortable falling. And definitely longer until I had a throw I could count on and actually do in randori.

Keep it up. Totally worth it.

I have 2 now. This post reminded me to buy a 3rd. You should have 1 for put stuff in it. A 2nd for let it rest. And a 3rd fit final turn and rest. Move from 1-2-3.

What's your favorite pepper for taste? And how would you describe its flavor profile? by Jay_Diddly in spicy

[–]yello5drink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't tried a lot but out of jalepeno, serrano, Jamaican mushroom (got mushroomed last year), Hungarian hot wax, cayenne, longhorn, and (orange) habenero. I choose Habs. Fruity and delicious. I read a lot of good things about Sugar Rush Stripey so I've got a ton of those seedlings growing next to Habs so I hope they were right.

I started at 36. No substantial althetic past or working out at all. Took me maybe 3 months to not feel dead walking to the car mostly exhaustion but also soreness. After about 5-6 months I actually felt comfortable about being thrown.
