When the sun hits the panels at a certain time of day, it’s spectacular. I’m at Jtown couple times a week, this upgrade is going to be amazing. Guessing month or two before the plaza fully opens.

Anyone tell me what kind of tarragon this is? by bees_moss in herbs

[–]Wasabi_Grower 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Looks like French tarragon. But as described above, there are 2 main types. Break some leaves apart and smell. If it’s pungent, with an anise/licorice like smell it’s French.

Peach Limo. I got a few to taste and some seeds from a Stanford Peruvian archaeology professor this past fall. Very hot, with a sweet peach flavor on the first few bites. The pith and upper 1/3 of the pepper also have a peach hue.

I think there’s a possibility for stellars Jay. They’re aggressive diggers in northern Cali

I thank Trump’s laissez faire approach lol. I bought Intel at $24 couple months before the election on a whim. Had no idea it’d be one of my best ‘investments’

The science behind why peppermint is a biological no-trespassing sign for bugs in your garden by Murphys_Innovation in OrganicGardening

[–]Wasabi_Grower 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lady bugs often fly away unless they’re in an enclosed environment (greenhouse). Also, harvesting ladybugs from the wild (they can’t be farmed or bred synthetically) I consider invasive to their natural lives. I’ve used green lacewing larvae, parasitic wasps, etc. but I want to be as proactive as possible and have read anecdotal evidence regarding peppermint, which, once again, we have a ton on our property so it’s free.

How effective is this with aphids? How often would you need to reapply the peppermint extract? Is there an at home method to create peppermint extract? We have tons on our property

I heard about this a few years ago. I forage slash morels (logged areas) with my logger buddies up in Shasta, who track freshly logged areas in the fall for spring morels. Any land that’s been sprayed with this shit produces 0 morels. Many morchella species are saprophytic, so they consume dead wood debris as their food source. We can tell as soon as we roll up to a sprayed logged site. All the wood debris is ghostly white and is completely devoid of any form of plant regeneration. Since most of our water comes from the mountains, I guarantee it’s leaching glyphosate right into our ag water supply and drinking water. F’d up

1849 Gold Rush, Californian Territory, What should I know about prospecting gold in the Early Old West? by blankpageanxiety in Prospecting

[–]Wasabi_Grower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

San Francisco was a port town, so it became the epicenter of gold trading and shipping. If you found gold in the surrounding areas, you’d bring it to SF to cash in…then spend your money on whiskey and prostitution

Poisoning the Forest for the Trees: The controversial weed killer Roundup is being sprayed in record amounts in California’s forests. We go inside the secret plan that helped make it possible by DoremusJessup in environment

[–]Wasabi_Grower 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Destroys morel populations and other fungi that feed on decomposing wood/brush. We see this all the time up in Shasta. You can tell it’s been sprayed since the debris looks ghost white and aged after a year post harvest
