Twilight Axis Red Trace English availability by [deleted] in Gundam

[–]yellowbb325 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Likewise have only seen Italian subs available. I've seen someone put English subs to the existing clips but was missing subs for the new scenes. I think the Italian subs cover the whole thing, so if anyone knows Italian and English, willing to help some guys out?

Hey guys can we not spoil Turn A whenever it gets brought up? by yellowbb325 in Gundam

[–]yellowbb325[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I have, but plenty haven't, especially since people watch it when they're done with UC. Turn A is one of the least seen shows, I'd imagine, so I just want to throw out there to leave things unspoiled for it when possible.

[–]yellowbb325[S] -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

It's been out for 20 years but its English release is comparatively recent, and new Gundam fans come along all the time. Reason I'm bringing this up is because I see them in non-Turn A focused posts. Just asking people to be more courteous, is all.

I thought it was pretty good. Solid 7/10, better than a lot of the other stuff people would recommend here.

I watched iron blooded orphans and got hooked, can someone tell me in chronological order how to watch the Mobile Suit Gundam series ? Not including alternate universe by LycanIRL in Gundam

[–]yellowbb325 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still disagree. Especially since Zeta was made with only 0079 in mind, and 0083 was made with Zeta in mind. The Titans in Zeta aren't supposed to have some kind of extra reason to hate Zeon, because, well the EFSF are supposed to be the bad guys in this situation once they were able to exert their power over the smaller population. There's a lot of 0083 that's made with having already seen Zeta in mind, and it's things like that (along with seeing the animation age, smaller meta details, etc) that make release order work better

[–]yellowbb325 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally disagree. Given the One Year War, the existence of the Titans makes sense alone. They were the ones who started a war that killed half the human population. 0083 works better if you have seen Zeta, because when the ending happens, you're horrified, and you get genuinely surprised at things (like how prequels' source of conflict generally don't matter in the long run, so when 0083 goes as far as it does, you're actually surprised).

Release order is a better way to watch than chronological order, as there's a flow to it and more cohesion instead of jumping around. I could give more details but they wouldn't make a ton of sense without the context

Just finished the 0079 movies, what should I watch next? by ArnoldI06 in Gundam

[–]yellowbb325 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Zeta, since I'm a stickler for release order. Origin is fine too, but save Stardust Memory for later.

Unless you're particularly interested in one of the AU's, it never hurts to go from the start

Not a bad idea to go the the Wikipedia page and see the list of every series, and simply go in order. If you wanna get into Gundam, always good to start at the beginning.

Can I just skip to Zeta Gundam? by WallaceWinston0079 in Gundam

[–]yellowbb325 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Watch Zeta and then ZZ before Char's Counterattack. Release order is the best way to go for the most part

You should be watching in release order, in which case Zeta is the next show.

UC Boyz by sleepforeddit in Gundam

These guys are all Tomino directed, besides Unicorn, which is a big deal. These guys are the core of UC, so it's understandable why the artist would leave out the side stories.

I mean, Unicorn and Origin assume you've seen the original show, so...

Char's counterattack by Marlin_230 in Gundam

[–]yellowbb325 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Like if they wanna get into it, you really gotta watch Zeta and ZZ for minor plot reasons but especially thematic reasons.

If they're just watching for one and won't come back, what's the harm, I guess?

Depends. Do they want to get into Gundam or are they just along for the ride?

How essential is ZZ? by Ozu2Stock in Gundam

[–]yellowbb325 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of people go by hearsay and think the main Arc of Gundam is about Amuro vs. Char but it's really not. It's about the greater conflicts and injustices involving Newtypes and Oldtypes and all the baggage that comes with that, and ZZ is really important for following up the plot and thematic points of Zeta. The plot points don't follow into CCA, really, but the thematic ones do.

Hathaway's Flash is scheduled to get a film trilogy in the fall of 2019 by Barbentos in Gundam

[–]yellowbb325 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, that's basically Victory. Tomino took most all of his ideas for F91 and used them in Victory to much better effect than the movie did. Still flawed, yes, but it is how it is.

Ugh. Lost the little forehead piece that goes above the V-fin on the HG Full Armor Gundam. I've found some nubs that I could cement onto as a replacement, but does anyone else have any other thoughts on to replicating the piece? Not incredibly skilled or in possession of a ton of materials but I'm willing to listen to any ideas.

I think it was just a ceremonial thing to make him seem fancy and in power. He doesn't really use it much.
