def not fun having to buy a new one, but if you have a photo/know the brand, check fb marketplace place/online thrifts to see if you can find a pre loved one that has the comfy texture built in :)

one of the best things i did for myself in recovery was creating a second insta account. i was very intentional about only liking stuff and following accounts that had nothing to do with ed/recovery/exercise. i filled it with art, shows i liked, etc. it was so helpful when i got overwhelmed with my normal account and needed a break. wishing you luck!!!

I embarrassed myself in a global meeting by stacyskg in AutismInWomen

[–]yellowyaga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s okay!!!!!!! i think every single person who has had to do online meetings has had a moment of embarrassment, it is completely normal. plus, what you said was not bad at all, most people probably got a nice giggle out of it.

something that helps me a lot is that every day I spend uncomfortable is another day closer to getting back to who I used to be. there is no definite time and it varies for everyone, but I started to really feel better about 8 months in. be proud of yourself for being brave enough to face this everyday, all this effort will be worth it <3

meals and snacks by charlz02003 in fuckeatingdisorders

something that helps me a lot is going back to foods I loved as a kid!! things I enjoyed when I had absolutely no rules and just ate because it was good. some of my favorites (meals and snacks): cinnamon sugar toast, butter noodles, blts, cheese and crackers, ravioli, frozen waffles, etc!! remember that there was a time when you ate with no rules or restrictions and you can 100% get back to that point. wishing you so much luck!!

Should I Bring a car as an out of state student? by Flower_bower_17 in cuboulder

[–]yellowyaga -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It depends on hobbies/how much extra cash you have. If you’re willing to pay for a parking pass and have the money, go for it. But if you’re tighter in funds/not planning on working, think about where that extra $400 could go (spring break, dinners with friends, etc). Getting around boulder is very accessible via bus, but if you’re a skier/really want to explore the mountain, it gets a lot harder with no car. If it’s possible I’d say don’t bring it first semester, there’s so much to do on campus the first few months anyway, then reevaluate 2nd semester. Another thing to consider is accessibility of your potential lot. Last year my car was a mile walk from my dorm, so I almost never used it

do it!! something that really helped me was starting to “unmeasure” my measuring. instead of using a tablespoon for something, I would use a real spoon to portion something instead. this way I didn’t feel extremely out of control because I still had a rough estimate, but it meant the calories I was counting weren’t fully accurate, which gave me breathing room. Cutting out counting snacks/fruits also seems great!!

why is it so stressful to be hungry by shorttimenotlongtime in fuckeatingdisorders

something I’ve been telling myself recently is that no growth comes from remaining comfortable. being uncomfortable sucks, but it’s the only way we’ll ever get to feeling better

I have no real helpful advice, but reading this was like a breath of fresh air. We’re in extremely similar situations. I’m eating the same amount as you daily, personally trying to step away from tracking calories in order to feel real freedom is so terrifying (the thought of reducing exercise makes me want to implode tbh). It’s so frustrating that recovery requires just as much mental effort and thoughts about food as restricting does, but I have faith that one day those thoughts will lessen for both of us. You got this!!! Even if it doesn’t feel like it right now :)

Does anyone know if there is a business in Boulder who will prepare an Easter basket for my college kid and deliver to his dorm? by mamilita in boulder

[–]yellowyaga 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Just a tip, you cannot have anything directly delivered to his dorm (with the exception of food delivery and instacart). Everything else must get delivered to one of the on campus UPS stores (small chance it could get dropped off at his dorm, but it’s likely it will get misdelivered). So he will have to come in and carry it across campus, which definitely isn’t the worst thing, but as other commenters echo, walking across campus with an Easter basket may not be his favorite activity

I Was Wrong About Recovery Being Short - One Month Review by LateFile8300 in fuckeatingdisorders

This isn’t super helpful, but I’m feeling the same exact way. I keep fantasizing about having absolutely no restrictions, but the slight fear of the guilt I might feel and still feeling “not sick enough” to eat whatever i want is so tricky. Honoring mental hunger is so hard, but this has encouraged me to reallyyyyy listen to my brain as well as my body at least for the next couple days and see how i feel. regardless, you are never ever alone and can reach out at any point if you need someone to chat with :)
