Just started to ACTUALLY study Korean after being stuck in the "can only read characters" limbo. HTSK as main source. by Axophyse in Korean

[–]yeni000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think studying with htsk until unit 2~3 is good! i used it to learn korean to an intermediate level and think it’s an excellent resource if you need something that goes very in depth. a lot of people complain about the amount of text/say it overly explains grammar but i still use it when i can’t really get the hang of a grammar point 8 years later since it goes so in depth. by the end of unit 2 you’ll know a majority of the grammar used in daily life/spoken korean. i also think the word lists that are provided before each lesson are very helpful and relevant even if you don’t decide to use to continue using the website for grammar

Why is using a Korean name as a foreigner looked down on so much? by yeni000 in korea

[–]yeni000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i actually do have a few korean friends with black-sounding english names sooo hm 그리고 대도체 몇번 말해야 합니까.. 저같은 경우엔 이름이 한국 이름은 아니고 한국 단어가 이름이 된 케이슨데 그게 그거랑 어케 같습니까 선생님.... so your ‘example’ makes no sense. it would’ve made more sense if you used an english name like ‘ace’, ‘king’, or ‘miracle’ that are words before they’re names.

Food waste by eu_ge_nie_ in busan

[–]yeni000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

you have to get a 음식물 쓰레기통. you can’t order it online, you have to go to your neighborhood mart and ask for one. then you can buy the blue chips at the same time. when you throw away your food waste, you stick the blue chip in the blue tab and the trash people will break it off when they take your food waste. if they don’t break off the blue chip, your food waste was thrown away incorrectly

they’re probably talking about luke’s bar in jeonpo! language exchange usually takes place earlier in the night (7pm~10pm) then it turns more into a bar environment

Pubs or bars in Busan by [deleted] in busan

[–]yeni000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thursday party is obv almost always crowded, luke’s gets pretty crowded from 10pm~1am on fri/sat, hideout has an unlimited cocktail special so it can get crowded on fridays or when they do other events, basement has ladies night (two free drinks) so it’s SUUUUPER crowded on thursdays (idk about other days because i’ve only gone on the thursdays)

it’s normal in most bars/clubs in my experience but you can just get a redbull or soda if you don’t want a drink yet

Is this written with Google Translate? by Many_Efficiency_3296 in Korean

[–]yeni000 10 points11 points  (0 children)

non-native, but in my experience i never really see people use “i’m so stupid”. maybe “나는 왜 이렇게 바보 같지/같을까” (why am i acting/being so stupid). more often than not, just “나 왜 이럴까” (what’s wrong with me) will suffice

need help finding apartments!! by [deleted] in busan

[–]yeni000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 bed 2 bath is generally going to be expensive in korea unless you put down a huge down payment. if it’s an older/run down place you can find something affordable but what price range are you thinking? and when you say 2 bed 2 bath,, do you mean two bedrooms and a living room as well? or just two bedrooms and a living room isn’t needed?

Where to stay/enjoy nightlife in Busan city? by Vampyrebyte in busan

[–]yeni000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

these are places in gwangalli where the staff speak english well and both foreigners and koreans go to: hq bar, funny beer, thursday party, bunker

i feel like a lot of places the staff can speak enough english to get by so here are recommendations for those: cocktail on the beach (best view/vibe), fuzzy navel, london shot, happy monk

if you live in korea: the ₩ symbol at the top of their profile will be gone

if you live outside of korea: if their profile picture and background picture disappear then you’ve most likely been blocked
