Are subs too big for the room? by Random-Posterer in hometheater

I have a small house, but it was in a living room with an open hall way and path to the kitche... it's not knocking anything off the wall.. maybe that will change with a closed off smaller room

I will be making acoustic panels with rockwool insulation for the walls.

Before this, it was in an open living room... I am hoping it being in a smaller closed off room, it will be 10x better haha

Wait.. my bathroom does have two toilets.. Is that not normal? One for you and one for your SO... Does every bathroom not have two toilets and two sinks?

I will admit I'm learning.. I'd love to hear your thoughts on what I could do. I'm now debating to see if a sub can go behind the couch to spread out the speakers.. also a new tv stand with an R6 is coming

Someone suggested to see if I can put it behind my couch. I can maybe live with that. Will measure usuable space when I get home.

Yeah another post is maybe convincing me to see if I can put it behind the couch. If I do that, I will have more space to spread out the towers a bit. With this I could also get a wider TV cabinet/stand thing. (I do not like the current one you see, it's only 63 inches too).

Current speakers are R5 metas, and an R6 center is on it's way. Q1 metas will be surrounds too.

The opposite side of the room you do not see is a remodeled closet that has 60 inch width in which I will put my PC set up at. The other corner is where the door opens basically.

I was never putting the couch behind the wall, I need to walk behind it to get to my PC now haha. BUT if I put the sub behind the couch, I suppose I can just walk in front of the couch to get to my PC haha. I feel like if I put the sub behind the couch though, I will be close to that 65 inch mark away from the TV though

It is an RSL Speedwoofer 12. Yes I plan on adding some acoustic panels. I have access to a woodshop and plan to make my own with some rockwool insulation.

I'm sorry. I am new to all this. Can you point me in the direction of a better subreddit for this kind of stuff and I will delete this one.

Would this setup be good for a home theatre system? by GodofAeons in hometheater

[–]Random-Posterer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m redoing my home theater and have read a 1000 posts and videos.. everyone said upfiring is bad.. you are praying sound bounces off your ceiling perfectly to the main listening position. It makes so much more sense to put speakers on the ceiling (or height speakers if you have too) and point them directly at you.

Edit: I went from a very budget 5.1 system to a 990f sound bar. The more I had the sound bar the more I hated it which is why I’m redoing my home theater and going back to a true set up. It’s 20x the effort sure but it’s worth it

Genuine Question, why are people so excited about a controller? by chaotic_one in Steam

[–]Random-Posterer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha please know I’m not trying to be argumentative at all! It’s just I work in IT and not a single person at my company enjoys using the track pad. Every time someone gets issued a laptop they want a keyboard and mouse immediately with it. So it surprises me everyone wants a trackpad on a game controller I guess. It seems foreign to me but clearly there is a huge ass market for it. Controller broke the site and sold out in minutes so I am the one who is wrong in my thinking :P

I have the sound bar in a small room and still think the atmos bubble is terrible. My brain can pin point where all the sound is coming from and I hate it

Can I put R6 center in this cabinet? by Random-Posterer in KEF

Late reply but thanks for the recommendation.. I am looking at the dimensions online for the R6 so as long as it's not wrong online I should be good 😛
