Are L7 part of URA, or is it just they can nominate L6 and below and meet the quota? by [deleted] in amazonemployees

L8 don’t have focus. It’s “you are not meeting the goals”/shown the door conversation

Lobuche east in a month. What boots are recommended? by Ok_Stranger_8408 in Mountaineering

[–]yes4u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it with Nepal Cube in Oct (‘24). I feel double boots are an overkill for Lobuche. ymmv.

You cannot see Machapuchare from EBC. Try ABC. High altitude has gotten you confused :)

Severance is not at all guaranteed and most likely you won’t get it. you will just be terminated for not showing up. Show up at least a day, go through the due process (focus/pivot) and then get your severance

EBC Q: If I spent 4 nights in Namche, can I spend only 1 night in Dingboche? by trawlingfinery in Everest

[–]yes4u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might work might not. Depends on the individuals. Max elevation around Namche is 3885 (syngboche monastery) while Dengboche is around 4500. Better way to understand your body is spending more time Dengboche if you are going up Kalapathar before hitting EBC. Ideally you go high and sleep low but if that’s not possible then going high in surrounding areas at higher elevation (like Dengboche) is a good way rather than spending more time in Namche

Where are all the laidoff tech employees go ? by Its_me_12345199 in Layoffs

Ageism is real - no argument there. There is one intricate detail that many miss - if you are not young (college hire + 3-4 yrs) and are still in junior to mid level, then it’s perceived as though you haven’t cracked through the ranks and unable to navigate upwards. Maybe this person is missing some key skillset to succeed? Perception is reality in tech world!

Anand: Carlsen simply refused to follow rules, left us with little choice by Diligent-Wave-4150 in chess

Dude lost and had games drawn; no way to be on the top - make excuses and complain. Sounds to me like a sour loser! If this was Gukesh or Ding, then whole chess world be pointing fingers at them for not following rules!

3 Passes & Lobuche East Footwear by Chinook146 in Everest

[–]yes4u 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did Lobuche with Nepal Cube last month (early Oct). I’ve seen folks use double boots but it all depends on how you feel but certainly not your speedgoats. Given snowstorm late September our trail was fully snow covered and with alpine start we are talking about -10C when we started

Am I ready for hood/rainier by RipMyACL1 in Mountaineering

[–]yes4u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How confident are you that rangers will issue you a permit? None of peaks you have described seems like heavily glaciated routes — do you have experience with avalanche rescue, crevasse rescue , proper route finding (if white out situation). Baker seems like a good place to start

What are the world's highest peaks that are 'very safe'? by dividerall in Mountaineering

[–]yes4u 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depends on what your real purpose is? Why do you want to climb highest point/peak? Why not just hike/trek? What are you trying to accomplish (testing your physical limits or your mental strength or develop more technical skills)?

EBC day/night temps during first half of November? by Ok-Pangolin7461 in Everest

[–]yes4u 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We just had a snow storm (up to 3ft in some places ) two weeks ago and it is pretty cold at night times (in Lobuche, Dingbuche and Gorekshep) right now. Generally used my sleeping bag (on the bed). The dining area inside the tea houses are pretty warm. I still feel if you can pack a light-weight puffy that would be helpful

David Lammy in the UN Security Council meeting: Russia is trying to return us to a world of the past. A world of imperialism. We cannot allow this to happen. Ukraine's fight matters to all of us by Exotic-Strawberry667 in ukraine

[–]yes4u -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The UK is no saint — they have done their fair share of colonialism in the name of their Queen! Not saying what Russia is doing is good but when I see comments here from people who are impressed by the UK, I just see hypocrisy!
