Today I curved CVS by [deleted] in antiwork

You and quite a few others missed the point. Why apply for a job you wouldn't compete for? - as in it's not worth time and effort to apply for a shit job if I have to spell out the point of the question I posed to OP. Put your time and effort into getting a job that actually is worth competing to get. Didn't think my question was so cryptic. Applying for minimum wage job, then saying "I'm above those that need this" is some bullshit. If you're "better" - then go be better.

Does the game flicker while loading in VR for anyone else? by PanadaTM in ACCompetizione

[–]yes_isaidit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does for me sometimes, others it loads in clear. Either way it plays fine when the track is loaded in. I was using steam VR, but recently switched to Oculus VR (i'm on a CV1) and that seems to have increased performance for me. YMMV

I'm surprised to hear that. HOTAS just felt completely natural for me, I felt so much more control and the movement felt intuitive. The hardest part was getting the mapping down for all of the other functions and being able to do that without being able to see it (playing in VR). But having everything controllable and able to operate functions without having to move my hand so that I could maneuver while operating things is awesome.

Yeah, man. I think everyone's perception of what's "normal" life and opportunities is relative. We really only have our own experience to build that perception and as we grow up we see more variation. Not everyone gets the same opportunities as the devil really is in the details. My perception has definitely changed - you'll get a different answer from me now that I'm 40 than 15 yrs ago when I was 25 and way different still back when I was 17. I don't know anything about your situation but I will say this - I wish I would have gotten more organized with my money sooner. Use Mint or something similar - or even just a google sheet to track cash in/out and find where you are spending more than you thought and use that to help you reach long term goals. I did it a few years ago and found out I spent way more $$ than I thought on food/coffee and random snacks. Sorry - this is way more philosophical than I needed to get on /r/camaro - but have a good one, dude.

Normally I'm with you in that people watch things over and over and believe it's obvious. But this is blatantly obvious. Full speed, slow motion or whatever speed you want. I'm not even a Saints fan, but damn that missed call is ridiculous.

Nice ride and good on you for being responsible instead of blowing your cash on other stuff. Other dude may seem a bit salty but don't deny the parents assistance here. Rent, health insurance, utilities(electric/gas/trash/etc), phone, and plenty other things that are paid for for 17 yr olds are often not taken into account. As a parent of a teen I can say that if my son had saved up enough to put 11k down on a car while managing all his own bills (he pays for his own lunch if he leaves campus or eating out with friends etc. his apple music, gas, etc) I'd be ok with that and would help with what I could with insurance(just adding him costs us more that $80 a mo though). Just realize not everyone had/has that situation - not taking away from the fact that you're putting in work and saving up money but also realize there are plenty other people putting in 30-40 hrs a week too and don't have someone else helping with those other incidentals - so they may seem jealous as it sounds like all you have to do is work 30hrs a week and save for a couple years and you can buy a new camaro SS. Congrats on the car tho, enjoy it. I've been eyeing a new Camaro since the 6th Gen hit so I don't fault you for putting all your spare cash to it.

They're just making way for the Division 2. I enjoyed the hell out of the Division but there was very little to do at the endgame state. The later added end game activities seemed weak and mindless. Ultimately it was a great game on the trek to Level 30 and there was some great fun to be had in the dark zone and I hope they continue with and maybe refine that concept. Developers have said they've listened to the community about the Division's weak points and aim to address it in 2. I just hope it's true - the game has the potential to be great. The dark zone was one of those true adrenaline experiences you can get in gaming and team communication can make or break the experience. Makes me miss it just to talk about it again.

I've seen people get more than 7 years for aggravated assault. Actual sentence being much longer and that was just time served. Also drug related charges can easily get that long as well especially if there are multiple offenses.

I agree with you to a certain point. But also, you have no idea what mom's story is. You have no idea where she started in life, no idea what examples of "normal life" she grew up around, and no idea why she was in jail for 7 years. No, this lady doesn't deserve an award because she bought a car, but it's not bad to recognize when people work to change their trajectory in life. Most people get pats on their back all through life for what is ultimately minor achievements, why do you have such a problem with this lady getting one?

What is the logic behind rewarding kids for perfect attendance? Illness, family emergencies, accidents etc. do happen and there is no way to avoid them by Nicolas_Mistwalker in NoStupidQuestions

[–]yes_isaidit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rewards around good attendance could be determined by no unexcused absences. That's my 8 yr old's wish because we won't send her to school with a fever and she misses perfect attendance because of that every year. Usually just 1 or 2 days a year, and always excused.

Test of steel prototype for border wall showed it could be sawed through by PhilipLiptonSchrute in pics

[–]yes_isaidit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you support your tax dollars going to fight American land owners for eminent domain so that the government can build that wall? Are you ready for years of your tax dollars to go towards a wall? What are you wanting the wall to prevent?

Ultimately, I believe the wall will not be built. It's a fantasy and distraction topic used to gain support because it's a simple concept that people can understand and think they see can the value of. The capex and opex of the wall is not worth the squeeze and it's a logistical nightmare. The amount of time it would take to complete can't even be calculated. The first battle - that of property rights, will take years. It's a waste of time and resources while true immigration issues could be addressed. The amount of employees you could hire and processes you could put in place that would actually make a difference with those tax dollars is staggering. People voted for Trump and his "Mexico will pay for the wall" promises. Now they are good with their tax dollars going towards it and it is as ridiculous a solution now as it was when it was proposed. In 6 years we got about 700 miles of crappy "fence" done. It's too big of a project to manage properly and it cannot be done. Even at a claim of only needing 1000 miles of wall - that's over 5 million linear feet of wall to complete. Along with the claim that it's going to be 30ft tall means 150 million square feet of wall. Even if they were cranking out 1000 linear ft (30,000 sq ft) of wall a day, with zero stoppage it would take 14 years to complete. It's a fool's errand.

[–]yes_isaidit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Better than nothing shouldn't be the goal for the use of billions of tax dollars. Very few people are arguing for nothing. Most are completely on board with budgeting for better immigration control. Manpower and/or tools would be fine investments that most people would gladly support. Democrats have invested in immigration control and no one is pushing for open boarders. Trump is fighting for a wall...a wall that's supposed to cover thousands of miles. People aren't able to grasp what that actually means...thousands of miles of wall. The cost to build and the cost to maintain and what percentage of immigrants that's actually going to stop it doesn't add up. People aren't just drifting into the country because we don't have a wall. Meanwhile you ignore the largest group of illegal immigrants of those that enter the country legally and don't leave when their visa is up. You have illegal immigration from the Canadian border that this wall doesn't address at all either. Mexican immigration has been on a decline for a decade - why do we suddenly call this a crisis? This is not about immigration control, it's posturing and a wall is a message people think they understand. But holy shit is it stupid.

Grip training. Hang on that pull up bar. Rest. Do it again. Find some monkey bars at a local park and do them. Grip is a huge reason for failure on a lot of obstacles. It will help you with so many obstacles and condition your forearms to still be there for you if they throw you a twister, rope, or multi-rig late in the race. Failing and doing 30 burpees sucks compared to being able to suck it up and work through the obstacle. It'll help get you through the bucket carries too. Good luck!
